My wife and I stop in occasionally for dinner as the food is always very good. We usually sit at the bar for dinner. Service there is usually good...not this time. It was Sunday afternoon on July 4th weekend. It seems that the bartender was lost. She has the bar and high tops for service. She was overwhelmed. There were over 30 dirty glasses scattered all over the bar. She did not give us silverware when we ordered and was constantly running. Don't know why there was no bar back to assist. We were there over an hour and the glasses never got removed from the bar. Also, when customers left the bar the bartender never cleared their dirty dishes and silverware. The worst thing we saw was two senior ladies sitting next to us for an hour with empty glasses ...chatting and were never asked if they wanted another drink or if the needed a check...just took up two stools and didn't spend a dime for an hour. Food was really great and wait time for a busy kitchen was good. As we are former bartenders, we notice these things. We think your bartender needs additional training, a barback and some assistance with floor service. We realize this all can be attributed to short staffing on a holiday weekend, but it's not a good look for the customers. It is a very good restaurant, but service and bartending needs some attention...of couse we will definitely come...
Read moreMy family and I had dinner today at Abbott's Grill. The design was interesting, but the atmosphere was kind of cold. We thought that it was because of this place that seemed very new and did not have any music as a background. The waitress was not attentive at all. She seems to be learning a menu and making mistakes, but this could be excusable. But she did not ask if we wanted to get a second drink and was not consurned when we did not ask for boxes despite some plates being still full when we asked for a check. The food is the main issue here. Crab dip was ok, nothing special,as werd mussels. But tuna in soy sauce was absolutely terrible.Nothing like pictured in the menu. 2 big chanks of unpleasantly looking brown/ black tuna pieces, excruciatingly salty, simply unbearable. These terrible fish chanks were placed on top of grayish noodles, which were,as you probably already gessing- super salty as well. Looks terrible and tastes horrible. Fried calamari were actually a kind of salad - nothing crunchy or light, very salty and over spicy. * of note, I really like spicy food, but this was just not tasty! Thankfully, the drink of the week- vodka with apple/ lemon juice was very good ( although with no name).Unfortunately, as you probably recall, the waitresses did not bother to ask if we want a second one. Will...
Read moreCame to Abbots because I love lamb and it was with parsnip as well. They seem a little short staffed upon arrival, just telling people to take a menu and sit where you want being told across the bar. I sat at the bar and ordered a Cab Sav and the lamb shank and waited in anticipation. Two main issues, the plate was very cold and hence, so was the food. Bartender offered to fix it, but I didn’t want it to have a spin in a microwave. Other issue was the lamb, braised lamb should be fall apart tender and so soft. I know the problem….it was braised in advance (has to be) but then removed from the braising liquid and not cooled and stored in the liquid. This causes the lamb to be tender, but dry and in this case cold as well. It was served with roasted veg and mash and an au jus that did not resemble any of the flavors that should have come from the rich stock that braising produces. Disappointing and more the kitchens fault than the bartenders, who bought my next drink, but I doubt mentioned anything to management or kitchen. I may be back and try something else, place looks great.
Just an update, I have responded to Tyler following his prompt follow up to this review, twice in fact, no response either time. I’m assuming Tyler is no...
