Bread does not generally excite me. I've never been a bread person. My wife is, but not me. Until I had Durum Levain from Bread Obsession and saw the light. Now I can't imagine living without it. This bread haunts me. I'm actually afraid that someday we might move out of the Boston area and won't be able to get it, so now I'm just hoping the schools around here are decent, for my kids sake. I find myself trying to squeeze in quick trips to Lexington in between meetings. I think Durum Levain has altered the pleasure receptors in my brain. Baguette and Durum Levain are obvious highlights. Look forward to a crumb that is somehow dense, chewy, fluffy, and springy all at the same time, and a crust that is definitely crusty, but more yielding than crispy. And the flavor—oh the flavor of wheat! So good sometimes I’ll even just tear off a hunk and eat it undressed. Come here, buy some bread and eat it, you won’t be...
