The Bridge Eatery & Bar We walked in on a drizzly Monday around noon and surprisingly saw only one other person seated inside - at the bar - so we had our pick of tables for sure. The hostess/waitress was super sweet and obviously seated us quickly in the dining area. The dining area is bright even on a cloudy day because of several large windows and the decor is nice, simple and clean. I didn’t check out the bar area today although a quick glance seemed like it was a bit darker. There was also some patio seating but we opted to dine inside on this rainy day. I enjoyed my visit so will have to come back to check out more. One nice thing I noticed was several outlets were available near the perimeter tables so you could bring in electronics and keep them charged. We were on a lunch break from work so could only order iced tea and water haha but we would have had plenty of other drink options available if we wanted. The menu options were surprising as well but once we asked and were educated as to why there was a blend of hamburgers and Mediterranean, then it made sense. We were also shown another menu to choose from but I stuck with their regular menu and ordered the chicken wrap with optional side of soup. My lunch buddy went with the lamb sliders and with a super quick delivery, we each traded part of our meal in order to sample both entrees and we thought both were excellent! And in the spirit of sampling, we decided to try a dessert. I almost never order desserts after meals but I have an absolute weakness for baklava and I thought, wellllllllll, since I’ll be writing a review, I should have dessert, too! And what a nice surprise that the order included 4 pieces... so we each had a piece for lunch and then I took the rest home .... but ate them on the way back to work! Haha! Overall...
Read moreThe name and the Google description for this place couldn't be less sincere or informative. "The Bridge"? "A plain pizzeria"?? If this is the only information I had gotten on this place, I would have never gone out of my way to try it. Fortunately, my friend tried it last week and let me on to a little secret: this place is secretly Turkish and it is beyond delicious. If you're a fan of Eastern Mediterranean (meaning Turkish/Greek/Lebanese-Palestinian-Syrian) food, I would recommend it over anything close to downtown, especially to sit down with friends for dinner.
We tried the lahmacun, pide and moussaka -- all among the best I've ever had and I've sought out the good food in Istanbul. I was very pleased that they also had ayran, the salty yogurt drink that is common in the region (can't promise you'll like this one as much as I do, but give it a try for the novelty if nothing else!) The real star was the dessert, though: warm kunafeh (shredded baklava dough stuffed with sweet cheese and drizzled with syrup -- as far as I know this is the only place in Lexington where you can get this wonderful treat) and good Turkish coffee. They're open late and the staff is really warm and charming. They might read your fortune if they find you good company!
A fresh and exciting addition to Lexington's...
Read moreMy family is wondering what happened to this place. Here's our last two visits: Next to last visit: It took a long time just to get our appetizer soups, then we asked for one more, and it took another 20 minutes to get it. One of my family members felt the need to go to the bar just to get a drink refilled because the waitress didn't check back for the longest time. Actually, the waitress spent a significant amount of time behind the bar waiting on two customers when the restaurant area was full. Then my 80 year old mother had to get up and go find the waitress just to pay the bill. And to top it off, the food was just fair. Last visit: The menu had changed, and the offerings were about 1/3 of the previous menu, and the prices had increased quite a bit. They brought an appetizer with five different items that really required spoons for serving, but we had to ask for spoons. And instead of the warm bread they usually brought out, they brought room temperature crackers. My mother asked for bread, and they brought out room temperature bread. My mother was quite disappointed with this experience as well. The food was OK. We're afraid that if they don't do something, they'll go out of business. A normally busy restaurant only had two tables during...
