My boyfriend and I went to dinner at The Tulip the other night. We've been many times and it is always a wonderful experience. Not pictured, we always start with the Sausage Crostini and keep the side of marinara it comes with to dip your bread in it! I had a salad and the mussels which were in a garlic white wine sauce that I would've drank from the bowl if we weren't in public. My boyfriend had the bone-in pork chop with a Bourbon glaze over smoked gouda grits and green beans. Everything was cooked perfectly and our server was professional and experienced in fine dining. We love it here because the food is as good as any fine dining restaurant but the atmosphere is more like a neighborhood Bistro. Definitely recommend!

The food was really good, salmon was incredible. Best onion rings we ever had. The most bizarre place i’ve ever sat down at. We were in these weird tiny tables by closed windows above head level, directly next to some couple and their kids. I got a cocktail and was promptly plastered off half of it - I have a high alcohol tolerance and just wanted a martini (so very strong drinks, good if that’s what you’re looking for). Our waiter shakily handed me my drink after we watched him drop and pretended nothing happened. This was right after spilling water everywhere trying to fill my glass. Really nice guy though. Strange, uncomfortable vibe, great food.

The Tulip Bistro & Bar was an absolute pleasure to eat at even on a packed Saturday night. Our food was amazing. The waitress was extremely positive and upbeat and on top of everything. My pork chop was ridiculously good and that may have been the best potato cake that I have ever had. I ordered dessert first and their creme brulee was out of this world, even better than I had hoped. I cannot recommend The Tulip enough.

My husband took me here, for our 50th wedding anniversary. Things seem to just get worse and worse as night went on. We had reservations of course, but they put us at a table for four, instead of table for two. We were right in the middle of the high traffic area, the place became so noisy that we literally could not talk to each other. We had to stop and wait until after we finished our meal and go outside to talk. Our meals were so salty, and I mean salty that we could not finish our meals. Left most. We decided against dessert. Afraid that would not be good either. Being our 50th anniversary on that very day, they could have at least offered us a free cup of coffee or free glass of wine. This is the only restaurant that I know of, that does not make the evening special. My husband called ahead day before, letting them know this was a special night in what it was.

The next morning we both woke up with very puffy eyes, it was topic of our breakfast conversation, how puffy we were, probably due to the high sodium content of the meal. We both went through TWO glasses of water there. My husband mentioned it was our 50th wedding anniversary when he made reservations, but that doesn't matter to them. They just put you where they want. Noisy, loud and dead center of walking traffic. If you want to go there for a loud evening and listen to games and loud music, salty food, this is the place to go, but DEFINITELY NOT for a special evening.

Plus the young hostess had on white tennis shoes, and a micro mini short tennis skirt. Not proper work attire, most likely does it to get better tips from men. To me that was just not proper attire for this kind of establishment, maybe for a bar like Hooters, but not for this place. Very non-professional. Maybe she's looking for a pickup, but this is not the place.

The place was very, very noisy, we could not talk if we wanted to, we were sat in a high traffic area at a table for four, ( not cozy for 2) and neither one of us could finish our meal. The first bite, salt just overtook me. Anyone can tell you, that if a meal is prepared correctly, you don't need to add so much salt to cover it up.

Next year, we hope to find a place downtown that is more professional, more quieter, and their food taste a whole lot better without salt covering it up. A place that understands when you're going there for a 50th anniversary, it should be special. My husband apologized to me profusely when we decided to leave, without desert..., he said he thought it would be a lot nicer than it was, but I assured him, his heart was in the right place. It was not his fault.

He felt so bad, apologizing most of the night. He said when he made the reservations he explained this was a special evening that it was our 50th wedding anniversary and for sure that they would give us a much better and quieter table for two, not in the high traffic area, and thought the food would be a much better.

We will try a nicer place downtown next year for our anniversary, we will ask questions and explain what we went through this year to next restaurant. He really wanted it to be a special evening. This place really...

I hadn’t had such a great meal in ages! I’m not easily impressed by restaurants, but The Tulip exceeded all expectations. We started with the stuffed portobella and mussels; portobella was just ok, cold at the bottom (yeah, cold like it was in the fridge and didn’t get enough time to get warm), but good to start with. I’d suggest to warm it up for a bit longer, since I also noticed that the mozzarella on top was melted, but hard. My son said the mussels were absolutely exquisite.

I ordered the bourbon pecan chicken, which made it up for the portobella sort-of-fiasco. Chicken was juicy and tender, skin was crispy and the broccolini and cous cous in the sauce were just like a gift from the gods!! The boy ordered an 8oz filet, which was also like no other he had had before. We ended with a berry cobbler and ice cream dessert, which made our evening even more perfect! I understand some might consider it pricey, but I do not mind to pay more for something so wonderful. We’ll be...
