Daizu Hibachi Express Restaurant — Restaurant in Liberty

After reading mostly great reviews and a few on the opposite end of the scale we decided to give them some time to get established before visiting. I'm right on the line with this one... I partially agree with the review that said the only thing Asian is the name and decor but at the same time we've had worse. It was clean and the waitress was pleasant and attentive, but the entire staff were Spanish speakers so she couldn't answer a few questions due to the language barrier... in fact, we didn't see anyone that appeared Asian and the food was ok at best. This was the 1st time either of us have had crab Rangoon without cream cheese inside, it was only chopped imitation Crab with green onions that's it. Not terrible, but not right. The food came fast, and although they didn't ask how we wanted the steak cooked we both requested medium rare and the steak was well done to the point of being dry; the chicken was dry too so my kids wouldn't eat it. The shrimp and vegetables were good, the carrots were sweet and broccoli was well done as requested, but the rice seemed like it was pre-made (soy sauce, peas, carrot) then warmed back up; that's a guess based on the texture/dryness, and how some of the peas were dry and hard. Like most hibachi places the portions were plentiful, and the prices were decent compared to some of the fancier hibachi restaurants. The new sushi bar is great! We tried several different rolls and all were good. So glad to finally have a made-to-order sushi place in Liberty. Outside of the sushi bar I've only ordered regular menu items once, when they first opened. While the food was overall good tasting, it wasn't what I would consider Hibachi compared to actual Japanese Hibachi places we patronize. But, keep in mind that the staff are cooking and operating outside of their typical cultural comfort zone and knowledge base. Lost my wallet last night and I came back and it was there with all my cash in it. I have never lost my wallet in my life. At any place, including restaurants and got mine wallet back with everything in it.

Bought lunch after dinner last night and it was wonderful like usual. Also, they don't stuff their drinks with ice, which is a pleasant surprise considering most places give you more ice than drink
