Papa Boo's is such a cool place to go eat after fishing or boating for a couple hours. I remember coming here in my teens and hanging out while listening to live music and watching boats drive by. I can tell the dock is new and there are numerous places to dock your boat. I went here last Sunday around 12 for lunch and we were seated immediately since they weren't busy. Luckily our table was next to the water so we had a good view. 🚤 We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer (pictured) and they were crisp and delicious! The sauce had a bit of a kick but wasn't too spicy. 😋 I ordered the steak fajita (pictured) and I'll be honest, I was kinda disappointed. The flavor wasn't really there for me. Also, based on the description, I had the impression the meat would be more like fajita meat with red/green peppers and onion. This would have made a big difference in the flavor department! Other than that, my frozen strawberry margarita was really good. 🍹 The 4/5 rating is based on the overall experience and food. The waitress wasn't very personable and we never received utensils and we had to ask for napkins. However, I will always come here when I go to Buckeye Lake because the food and atmosphere are typically great. 👍🏻

It was my wife’s Birthday and she had her heart set on somewhere else, but between service and lack of product, we walked out. So we drove from Baltimore to Papa Boos for her birthday. Waitress was right at the table as we sat down. Remember it was Labor Day weekend on the Lake, so it was moderately busy. The waitress took our drink orders, and we checked out the menu. She returned and said she would give us more time to decide. We decided and I could see her watching her tables. We laid our menus down and she came over. She took our order. We sat and watched the boats on the lake. She came and checked on us, and we continued to watch the lake. Our food arrived, and the waitress came over to make sure the order was correct. She also checked our drinks. She continued to check on us, even with it being busy. I was very impressed. I never caught her name, but when you walk straight out, we were the third picnic table from the right along the boat docks. Thank you for taking what went bad as a birthday dinner to a good dinner with friendly service.

Papa Boo's is a laid-back establishment and reminded me of the bars you go to when you vacation on the ocean. It is located on Buckeye Lake, and many of the patrons tie their boats up outside and come on in. There is ample seating lakeside. They also sell and support local breweries. We had two of the Buckeye Lake brews they had to offer. We ordered chips and street corn dip for an appetizer. Chips were plentiful. For lunch, I had the chicken salad (menu said thus was a local favorite), and my wife had the steak on a stick. We had tots with both orders. My chicken salad was actually quite good, although my wife said her steak was chewy. Service was good and prompt. My only other negative is to change out the menus, as they were worn and a bit grungy. Otherwise a good experience, and we may have to try them again if in the area.

Great atmosphere, however Food Service was lacking. I ordered a small pizza and my friend ordered a sandwich wrap. His sandwich wrap and salad came out after about 15 minutes and all was good. The appetizer of fried pickles came out on time and was good. Another 30 minutes goes by and still no pizza. I asked the waitress if it was normal for Pizza to take that long to come out. She said, “no not really” and that it’s rare but offered no apology. I waited another 20 minutes before it came out, a total of an hour after ordering (and still no apology or no seem for concerns) from the waitress and by that time my friend was more than done eating his food. When the pizza finally arrived, it looked like it had been thrown together and it was not cooked fully through, and had grease running out of it. Still no apology. So, I asked to speak to the manager. 10 to 15 minutes later, the waitress returned and said that the manager was too busy to come out and talk with me about it and they were just going to take the pizza off of my bill. While I appreciate them taking the pizza off of my bill, I left still hungry because the pizza wasn’t up to par to eat…My biggest disappointment was that there was no apology AT ALL (not even once) or any attempt to make it right other than comping my bill. I would rather that the waitress apologize about it and try to make it right by offering something else rather than just comping my bill. I wasn’t trying to get out of paying for something, I just wanted to eat something good and have it come out to me on time or at least would have appreciated an apology. That would have made the experience better. I still tipped the waitress 20% but I’m the type person that usually tips 30% or more at times. I value servers. This was simply a bad experience and the only good thing about papa boos was the atmosphere. It may be a while before I go back...

Great place for a fun group outing, very local feel, live music and extensive out door seating! The food is pub grub, burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers. The drinks are pretty refreshing, seem to have a large selection of brews, which is awesome. I would definitely bring friends and make it a party with maybe an Uber or designated driver to have fun lake side.

I recommend getting on the waitlist (maybe more on the weekends) as the wait can get up there quickly. The staff are superb, very friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was great and very willing to interact with the crowd (this was a Sunday afternoon) the food is not what I would call the main attraction but its good. The fish sandwich was great and the burger is a great smash burger with plenty of cheese, I would have loved to see more veggies on my burger but they weren't skimpy, thats just personal preference and im sure I could have asked for it.

Napkins, plates, and forks were on the picnic table and are use as needed. Along with ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mayo and mustard came in packets.

The tables are well constructed and as comfortable as picnic tables can be.

My only down side would be the smoking, I understand we are outside but there was enough going on that I would smell it more often than I wished to. If you happen to qant to just hang out at the bar I hear it's first come first serve for seats and they have indoor and out door. All in all a great laid back atmosphere where everyone can have a pretty good time. Next time I might have to try thoss pulled pork nachos :) very much lake...

The atmosphere on the lake was amazing! They did a great job with social distancing the outside tables. All the tables in the sun had umbrellas! There were fans under the patio which helped immensely with cool off the humidity of the afternoon sun! Minus the soggy French fries that we asked to be replaced 2 times with still no luck of tasting better all the other food was mostly great. I would definitely suggest the loaded nachos or shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. The half plate of Loaded Nachos were plenty for 2 people & had us full before lunch! There are so many fixing on the nachos not one chip was left uncovered! The shrimp were HUGE and tasty! Also tried the 1/2 strawberry daiquiri & 1/2 pina colada slushy that besides being very pretty, had plenty of alcohol in it. The taco salad was enough for 2 meals & I did take most home (just wish it came with more tortilla chips-only 6 on the side). Just a heads up the grilled shrimp DO NOT look like the pic on the menu! They were only grilled with pepper & garlic. A bit dry & definitely not worth the $ since there is no sides with that so-called dinner (fries & sides sold separately)... It should be a appetizer instead. Wish I lived closer but will be returning, the 2 1/2 hour trip there was worth it! Oh, menu prices...
