Terrible experience! My family was excited to go there, especially with the Lobster month specials, ended up with a pathetic visit! Upon arrival we're told it's a 45min wait. Considered leaving and coming back another time, we decided to wait it out. While waiting several other parties came and left upon hearing the wait time. They have a patio and porch seating, but because it rained a couple hours prior, they wouldn't seat people there in case it rained again, even though it's blue skies and sunshine all around. While waiting I heard the servers say they ran out of silverware (Temporary I'm sure).
I went to the bar to order drinks, I paid for that order then asked to start a tab that we'll pay with our meal bill. THEM - we can't do that. ME- you can't add the bar bill or bring the bill with the meal bill? THEM - no, the system can't do that. You can open a tab here at the bar, but that's all. I've been to several places that do exactly that, so I don't know why they couldn't.
30min into waiting and we see a table cleared, expecting to be seated, a party that just came in were given that table! So I said something to the Hostess and she said - when it's busy they sit groups to the table size and that was a 6 person table and we only had 4. So I said - so if another table of 6 is available and a party of 6 just walks in, everybody here that's been waiting, keeps on waiting?! She didn't have a reply. There were a couple of older ladies growing impatient too, and we said - had we known that, they could had sat with us!
Still many more people coming and leaving, another 30min later and they had a table for us. I asked if it was for 4 or 6 people? Seated, another comment was made about no silverware, but they did bring us some. So we placed our order - 2 Lobster Rolls, Lobster Seafood Pasta and the Land/Sea burger. 30min go by and another couple is seated and there was a group next to us ... one ordered the Lobster Seafood Pasta and was complaining there was NO lobster in the meal, all but demanded the waitress to show her where the lobster was (as she was moving the pasta around with her fork).
Another 30min go by and the people seated after us, were served their food! We basically ordered sandwiches and pasta, how long can it possibly take to cook?! Our server came by to check on us and now we're really just plain upset with the experience! I asked if there was a shortage of staff or issue in the kitchen, pointed out the other people being served ahead of us. The server told us that there was a large party that came in, the kitchen is 2hrs behind, they stopped seating people soon after we were seated. She said she would check on our order but was certain it was soon ready ... and right then, here came our food.
The food was good ... my wife said her Lobster Roll was good but had better, same with our SIL who had the other Roll. Our daughter had the Pasta and said there was Lobster in it and it was good. My Land/Sea sandwich was good at best. I asked for no-pink, but it had some charring and hard spots b/c of that. Tempted to return it, who know how long that would take and by this time, we were invested to 2hrs now.
We started this event around 5:45, it was well after 8:00. The servers were constantly apologetic, Staff must have known there were issues, numerous people leaving, crazy wait times, insanely slow service, frustrated customers all over one large party! Did they offer a discount? A free dessert or drink? A coupon for a discount upon coming back? Nope, nothing, just a sorry for being slow. I hope that large party was worth it, we'll be hard pressed to ever go back! And did it rain at all while we...
Read moreFound the restaurant by accident and last week was our first experience. We ordered a charcuterie board of many different things and shared between the 3 of us. Had a fishbowl drink that lacked flavor and was half 7-up and loaded with ice. Won't do that again. Server was extremely nice.
Decided to go again this week to take advantage of the lobster entrees for August. Made the mistake of getting there around 6pm. It had rained a bit (spritzed I think the word was used) hours earlier so they were playing it safe and not even seating on the covered porch.
They took our name for a party of 4. A party of 2 came in after that and a party of 6 was next. We were quoted 45 min to an hour for seating and decided to wait and grab a drink from the bar in the meantime.
My husband had to pay for the drinks at the bar because they couldn't transfer and place on our meal order. I mean point of sales options should be able to do that but the comment made at the bar was i don't know if it can do that??? Seriously????
While waiting, a table cleared but it was for 6 so the party AFTER us was seated. Then we were told that a table for 6 was available upstairs?!?! They wouldn't seat us at the one downstairs but apparently the one upstairs was good enough for our party of 4. EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED. So while still trying to wipe our table down and only doing part of it at that, the young waitress was saying that they had a shortage of silverware because the kitchen was falling behind. Seriously? A shortage of silverware? We waited a while until our waitress got to us and put in our orders from the special August lobster menu.
My daughter and I had salads and they came out in short order. Other tables were seated in our vicinity. Table of 2 and another with like 6+ next to us. AN adjacent room had a party of 15, which apparently caused food service to be backed up by 2 hours?!? We were told not many parties were seated after us because the kitchen was so far behind.
Our waitress was attentive and stopped many times to be sure we had drinks. We kept asking about our approximate food arrival and she claimed it should be soon.
Table of two that was seated after us received their meal before us and by a significant amount of time. That was ridiculous. We FINALLY got our meals and pretty much were famished so it wasn't even enjoyable because We had waited so long and were hungry and tired. We got there before 6pm and it was now after 8pm.
The Hot lobster roll wasn't hot and I've had better. It was okay. Daughter got the lobster pasta and I tasted that. It was okay but for the wait, not a WOW.
So basically our excitement for the lobster menu was a true bust.
I'm sure they have redeeming entrees but the entire experience won't have me running back and I'll be sure to call ahead to see if outside seating is available and if any large parties are...
Read moreBack when I lived in the area this was one of my favorite places so while passing through with co-workers I convinced them to get a decent meal.
The beer was cold and refreshing! Soda was served in a mason jar! How fun!!!
The Decore hasn’t changed since the day they opened and it’s possible the bathroom hasn’t been detailed since then either.
I don’t remember there not being music playing during the dinner hour but there definitely wasn’t any on this Friday “happy hour!”
No happy hour specials either. Bummer!
Food price’s definitely went up and I didn’t see Wing night on the feature board anymore. That was always my favorite.
Ticket time seemed long, but Good food isn’t fast and fast food isn’t good!
The burger was rated 4 star. It was good but under cooked. Haddock was given 5 star and completely eaten despite the large portion. The salad special was amazing and you can tell all of the ingredients were the freshest. The server even recommended the perfect dressing! In all the food was exactly what brought us here and we weren’t disappointed!
While listening to the staff talk about the evening they seemed under staffed for a Friday night! While we were leaving it was starting to get busier! One of the original owners was there and she doesn’t look a day over what she looked like when she opened the place!!!
I was forced to put my meal on my CC which I was not happy about because I like to remain anonymous. Unfortunately the wait staff doesn’t keep a bank sufficient to break a large bill and I don’t know if she asked the bar to break it. At least they do still accept Cash.
All in all the experience was good and everyone was satisfied with the meal that was provided and the facilities.
Close enough to the University for a great family meal or a decent job, far enough away that it’s not a frat house bar!
PS. The new patio looks amazingly and inviting!!! Perhaps my next Sister’s weekend we’ll spend more...
