Sokokis Seafood Shack & Ice cream — Restaurant in Limerick

Seasonal and RUDE. Was in the area in early Nov and stumbled across a paper menu that didn't have any hours or mention the seasonal nature of the business. After confirming that it was open via the google listing, I called to put in an order and was met with an answering machine (after several rings) that said "we are open" at the beginning of the recording. I assumed they were busy and had no interest in leaving a voicemail so did not listen to the entire recording and decided to try back every few minutes in the hopes of getting through to a person. The previous night, we'd been on hold for 15 minutes and had to call several times to put in an order (at a different restaurant). In addition, my understanding (being from a small New England town) is that this is relatively common in order to be able to put in an order on a busy evening. After several phone calls, someone picked up for the sole purpose of BERATING me. They YELLED at me for calling so many times and asked how long it would take for me to "get the picture" that they were closed (even with a google listing and voicemail that says they are open). Honestly, even days later, I am shocked that someone associated with a business would be so rude to a potential customer, especially when they haven't updated their listings appropriately. [After digging deeper in the google listing, there is a (almost hidden) note that the business is seasonal but the actual hours say that...

Damn good place to eat. Seafood's obviously the specialty, and they do deliver on that front.

I recommend the clam strips and chowder. Strips are fried and delicious (they do not skimp on the portions here) and come with fries, Chowder's a nice light accompaniment that you'll be slurping whatever's left down. Haven't had it myself, but I've heard good things about the haddock and lobster.

Their ice cream is also to die for. Good sized variety of flavors, two of which I go for are the Other side of 95 (tastes like an Almond Joy) and the pineapple (if you like fruit). Again they don't skimp on the portions and scoops, even with the kitty size. Nice way to end a good...

I like this place to get my donuts in the morning, an ice cream on a hot day, or seafood at a reasonable price. I want to point out that the people working here are kind, over the top gracious, and even stayed open a bit longer as they were closing up to prepare a couple of lobster rolls for my son and his girlfriend visiting from California. I enjoy sitting on the lake eating my food and taking in the views. A great little hole in the wall with top-notch people taking care of us locals...
