Best Restaurant Around Limerick - The rustic furnishings and welcoming atmosphere sets the Peppermill Restaurant apart. We saw that as soon as we walked in the door. Peppermill shares a dedication to exceptional service, with a scratch kitchen providing generously portioned and quality food. I especially liked my over-stuffed omelet when we dropped in for breakfast, leaving Sokokis Lake long enough to grab a meal (the restaurant has a great view of the lake). When in Maine, eat seafood! Last Thursday, we enjoyed a baked stuffed haddock with crabmeat that was superb, made with Ritz crackers and lots of butter! The broiled sea scallops also had crackers and butter, and it too was great. The pricing here is great, with nothing over $18, with most items $12 and up. They feature nightly pricing specials, too (I didn't write them down, so you have to go to their website). From live music on the weekends, to sports-tuned televisions in The Mill Tavern, we found that entertainment combined with daily specials and an extensive “down home” menu at the Peppermill exceeded expectations! This is a local place in Limerick and it's very casual. I did not have a very good experience. The staffing was very light. I think there was only one cook, a bartender server, and a local guy who pitched in to help who wasn't on the payroll. I didn't care. He was helping with logistics and getting tables ready and helping the two employees with getting what they needed to serve patrons. The owner or manager is to blame for this. I could hear the frustration in the bartender when you were making a drink or menu decision. She in fact walked away to other patrons. I only ordered a beer. 30 seconds adds up when you have 20 other people putting in food and drink orders....as in 10 minutes plus. Which can seem like a long time to a patron. My Chicago hot dog was $13. It was big but it wasn't very good. The bun was soggy and wet, and for a hot dog that is $13 it should have been better. I may give this another try. We used to go for quality food in a quiet comfortable atmosphere. We were not told there was a private party, at first music was kind of mellow but then it turned to a band and it was painfully loud. We couldn't even talk to each other and got a headache. Our steak tips were not the quality nor quantity we had come to expect, more sauteed veggies. We travel to go there but not anymore.
