99 cent Coney dogs all day, every day but got them as a take out today and was very disappointed when I got home and they didn't have even a teaspoon of chili on them and almost no onion or mustard which I ended up adding at home! Really tasted like a 'regular' hot dog since there wasn't't enough chili! This is my first bad experience.
I decided to give them another chance since having the 'bad experience' 2 weeks ago and am sorry to say this was even WORSE and I'll NEVER go back. I was in the area and on my way home when I stopped in and ordered 2 coney dogs to go - I asked them to please make sure they put CHILI, ONION & MUSTARD on the hot dog and told them about my previous experience - they told me I would have to pay 75 cents EXTRA for that and I said 'Your sign says CONEY dogs 99 cents - I'm just asking for what is 'normal' to put on a CONEY dog like Leo's Coney Island does'' and the OWNER walked up to me and said ''we're losing money on those - you want chili, onion & mustard it's 75 cents and was handing me 'something' and I asked 'What is this?'' and he said 'It's your order ticket - why don't you just GO to Leo's?'', so I thanked him for his advice, cancelled my order, left and went to LEO'S CONEY ISLAND in Flat Rock and got THE BEST CONEY DOGS with so much Chili, Mustard & Onion I had to use a fork and knife to eat them! [and I didn't even have to ask for that, THAT'S what a CONEY dog comes with!] ... BTW - they were also 99 cents each! Don't worry Toma's, neither I, my family or ANY of my friends will bother patronizing you anymore - we wouldn't want you to 'go broke' putting chili, mustard and onion on YOUR 'coney' dogs! Sorry Leo's for going to a coney wannabe restaurant! We will remain loyal to YOU Leo! The picture I posted of the Coney dogs are NOT from Toma's! They are what a Coney Dog should look like - if you 'don't have to eat them' with a fork they are NOT Coney Dogs - they are...
ย ย ย Read moreI came in here recently and was not too impressed. It was a Tuesday morning and I was starving.
So I go in and order a coffee. And then she came back a couple minutes later with it and it was cold. I then asked the waitress if they have quasidillas and they did not. No big deal, but I was really feeling one. So I ordered the chicken pita instead. I asked if it was served with tzatziki (cucumber) sauce, and she said that it was not. And I kind of thought that it should have been. So I ordered ranch with it instead.
When my pita came, it looked ok but could have been a little neater and less sloppy looking. That wasn't that bad though. There was a small hair burnt in the top of the bread. So I pulled it out and overlooked it. As I was eating the chicken on it, I noticed that it was turning. So then I ordered fries, which I did not care for either. They were too thin and tasted like cardboard. The ranch dressing had a cheap flavor too.
Overall, I was not satisfied with this place. The parking is not convenient, the service is average, and the place ain't that clean. The menu is not real deep either. And they close quite early too. And it's quite unfortunate because I really liked this place when I ate in here a few years ago. That's why I drove past 4 other breakfast places just to come here. That was a mistake. The only upside to this place was the food was hot and the prices are good. Other than that, I don't know what would bring me back...
