Have you ever ordered a meal from a restaurant, and thought, just for that split second, god, for the love of god, why did I order food from this place? You know it's not going to be good. You know it's going to somehow be inferior quality to even your lowest expectations. However, two old fashioneds in, I went against my own best judgement and ordered the Walleye. Fish, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. What could go wrong? My happy go lucky joie de vivre was quickly tempered by the monstrosity which graced the proffered plate. An improperly filleted walleye which was FULL of bones and nearly made me choke. Asparagus that was COMPLETELY undercooked. And, gasp, mashed potatoes, that, on the second forkful, presented a long, thick black hair that made my stomach turn. Upon showing my (quite nice) waiter and bartender the monstrosities on my plate, he displayed the empathy required in any customer service situation. He said that I could order whatever else I wanted and it would promptly be delivered to our table. I ordered the honey glazed salmon. It showed up in about 10 minutes, though I was unfortunately again disappointed. No hairs or bones were apart of this meal, but the broccoli's texture was off (old?), the fish was unseasoned and undercooked, and the potato wedges were boring and laughable. I was positively disappointed in the entire expire, and instead of being comped my meal, as any good restaurant should, I was charged for the replacement salmon. The drinks were comped, which was nice, but I was told by the waiter that "they" (the powers that be) would not allow my meal to be comped. One comp, which might have alleviated the annoyances of this entire experience. Instead, Google, I am here, pleaing you to avoid this rubbishmill of a restaurant. They know nothing of seasoning, good care of patrons, or quality food. I should also note one other thing: at no point during this experience did the manager care to approach me and offer his condolences for this meal. Foreshame, Wilderness Ridge, and let the Bacchanal gods of food descend upon your house and smite thee with all their wrath. Your food is terribly, your service weak, and your quality control absolutely worthless. I will never be ordering food from this worthless establishment again. My money would have far better been spent on ingredients to cook at home - we paid nearly $100 for the most subpar restaurant experience I have had in Lincoln, since, well, my last experience at Wilderness Ridge for a breakfast meal. But that's a story for...
Read moreGreat food; everything was delicious. Service and management were mediocre. Ambience is ok; for an upscale restaurant, it was quite casual. Would recommend it for families rather than a special occasion or romantic dinner.
There is no sparkling wine by the glass, only by the bottle. "Bread service" is tasty but is an appetizer, not complimentary. Main dishes were really good.
We attempted to order a bottle of wine and were told by our server after several minutes that it was actually $40 more than the menu price. We declined and picked another bottle. Again several minutes later, we were told it was unavailable, and our server offered three others. We picked one, and she opened it (after leaving again for several minutes to find a wine tool). Overall, it took about 30 minutes to finally have our third choice wine, and our appetizers had arrived beforehand. It took almost an hour to receive our main dishes. The manager checked on us, and we conveyed what had happened. His immediate response was that he would honor the listed price of the wine we originally requested, and we told him we'd eventually gotten a different bottle. He apologized and said they were changing some of their wine menu. When I asked him why there is no sparkling wine by the glass, he was unaware this was the case (I showed him the menu). He wished us well, and that was it. All of this could have been handled better, especially if the server had been trained to involve the manager. The server cleared our dishes and asked if we'd like the check, not offering dessert, and we decided to leave.
As we left, I asked the hostess whether they could see any notes in OpenTable reservations, such as "birthday" or "anniversary." She said yes, they could. We had indicated this was a birthday dinner, but no one (hostess, server, manager) acknowledged it at all.
The ladies' room is large but was messy, with an overflowing trash bin and water all over the vanity and dripping onto the floor. I alerted the country club host in the hallway, and he immediately went to find someone to...
Read moreMy Husband and I booked Wilderness Ridge for our wedding and we absolutely fell in love the second we drove up to the venue! We had our wedding about a month ago and the staff there is incredible and got everything done that was asked and then some. The coordinator we worked with was there to make sure things were going smoothly and made sure to check on us throughout the night. We had a mimosa bar and snacks in the bridal room that my girls and I enjoyed! The room was set up beautifully and had plenty of room for us to get ready with access to it all night so we could leave our stuff in there till we left. We had our ceremony on the wedding island which worked out perfectly. The tree stole the show and looked incredible in pictures! They had golf carts shuttling all the guests and the wedding party from the main building down to the island and let us also use them to get pictures after the ceremony was done. We had our reception in the Yellowstone Ballroom which had a rustic look to it and a big fireplace that was right behind the head table. The dancefloor was nice and had lights strung up around it which we really liked. We had appetizers for our guests while we finished taking pictures and based on the fact that it was all gone by the time we got done it mustve been good! We got the Italian Pasta Buffet for dinner which was absolutely delicious! They also had a deck out back which had a fireplace with a fire going for us! That was probably my favorite part since I ended up spending the end half of the night talking with people out on the deck. So many people mentioned how beautiful the wedding was and that from the looks, to the food, to the drinks, and honestly all around people are still talking about how good of a time they had! I want to thank the entire staff of Wilderness Ridge for making our wedding day go so smoothely and making sure it all went off without a hitch! I would highly recommend this place as a wedding venue and just cant't thank...
