They never have the products listed in their ads, especially the veggie products. That and their food is always going bad or has already gone bad. Won't buy chicken here anymore after giving them chance after chance and the chicken has been either bad or a horrendous texture, like it's been thawed and refrozen several times. Fruits and veggies look fine, but once you get it home and start getting stuff out of the packaging and cutting it up, it has mold on it or is bruised/rotting. This has been a rampant issue at almost every Aldi in both Omaha and Lincoln, lincoln being worse.
Tonight was the last straw. I went in just to get a few items, only enough to warrant a small box that I could carry in my arms, as i forgot my quarter. Figured I'd grab a box, get my items, and get outta there. People in the past have allowed me to quickly get out of the way once I'm done checking out, pack up my things in the box or a bag so I can carry it out, and then return the cart to them directly at the counter. I would grab a cart from behind them and bring it right to them, so I dont stop the flow of people checking out while I'm bagging my stuff, but they normally tell me not to worry about it as long as I bring the cart back, which I always do! Now, this is not something I do every time I shop there, normally I would have a cart, but it happens from time to time. We have all gotten to Aldi and realized we forgot a quarter, but still needed the items we went there for in the first place.
Tonight I went in to get a few specific items, which you didn't even have, and ended up getting my hand hurt because the lady at check out wouldn't let me use the cart for what would've been LITERALLY less than 30 seconds. She grabbed the cart and slammed it back against the counter as I was pulling the cart away. My fingers were between the metal prongs of the cart and it hurt/cut my fingers. Didn't notice they were cut till I got in the car. I had grabbed my box and tried to quickly grab the other things of mine that were still in the cart, so I could carry them to the counter and get them situated in the box while she was chucking the other person's stuff into the same cart.
I understand the point in Aldi, but the prices are not much better than other places. Especially when you compare food quality and customer service. Probably going to go to Trader Joe's...
Read moreI go to Aldi for all my staples as they are almost always lower than leading competitors. If you're looking for constant pampering and attention as a customer, you don't understand how Aldi works or their heritage. It's a German company, the German culture is more concerned with getting things done easily and efficiently over dilly-dally pleasantries we're so famous for in the US, so if the cashier whizzes your groceries over the scanner without saying a word, don't take offense. If you don't hear annoying noise disguised as "music" piped into the store, be grateful that they aren't raising the cost of your groceries to pay for the royalties. If you think popping a quarter into a cart is just too much, perhaps a store that unnecessarily pays someone to gather carts all day (and tacks that cost onto you) is more your style. If you have to have name brands for everything, even though the name brands frequently manufacture for store brands, go ahead and pay 3x the...
Read moreOne of my favorite grocery stores!!! Amazing deals on produce, meats, dairy, breads, paper goods & other random odds & ends (toys around Christmas, gardening stuff around spring).
Avocado's priced as low as $.19 on sale and normally priced at $.59. Bananas as low as $.29/lb on sale and $.44/lb regularly. Usually one of the cheaper places to buy milk, eggs, chips, pineapples, potatoes, sweet potatoes lettuce, cucumbers, mushrooms, cilantro, garlic, corn on the cob, pomegranates, grapefruit, and mixed berries.
I used to mainly buy only produce from ALDI stores, but since they've opened this store I've started making this one of the first places I shop for groceries each week.
They do have some organic, gluten free, and low calorie items. As well as cooking basics, snacks, candy, wine, cereal & pasta.
This location is clean, staff is friendly and the produce is good quality (some other ALDI stores I've been to have more spoiled produce on...
