My family and I passed through here this morning on the way back from Elijah Clark State Park. I do not like leaving bad reviews, but I checked out the reviews and saw this place has a 4.5 review rating. After eating here, I do not see how. The place looked sketchy but we didnāt want to go by that because it had good reviews after all. Unfortunately, we should have walked out as soon as we saw leaks and buckets sitting on tables to catch the leaks, including where we sat.
Our home platter breakfast came out fast (the biscuits and waffle came out a few minutes after) but we did not get silverware. A customer ended up grabbing some for us. I was excited to try the biscuit, but after taking a bite I had to spit it out into my napkin. It tasted like dish soap. Iām not sure if dish soap fell in the batter or what, but it was not edible. The coffee was also not good. The eggs and bacon were good, but it would be hard to mess up eggs and bacon. Also, my son ordered a waffle but he did not like it and my husband said it was bad. He asked me to try a piece but after the biscuit experience, I declined.
While there, one of the leaky ceiling tiles (there were a good few of them) fell to the floor. We had to move from our table because the ceiling tile we were sitting under looked like it too would cave in soon. If the owners canāt take maintain their restaurantās ceiling and who knows what else, they are putting the safety of patrons at risk. The only reason I left a 2-star review is because of a wonderful encounter with a local man who is also one of the restaurantās loyal patrons. Heās too kind to continue frequenting this place - although I get that there are no other options in this town for breakfast. I do hope the owners turn things around because it would be a shame for this restaurant that has been in this town since 1945 to close...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, all I can say is, I've eaten at little small town diners and breakfast places from here all the way to south fla, and I've never had any breakfast as good as this place. The biscuits were unique and just wonderful. I had the house platter, best 3 eggs, bacon, hash browns, and grits were just exceptional. I don't know what these people do to make this breakfast this good, but whatever they are doing, keep it up. I live in Cartersville and I tell ya, making the 3-4 hr drive here to camp was worth it just to eat here at this place. It literally is that good. Also, the staff, waitress and all were fantastic as well. The waitress with the colored auburn hair was wonderful...

This place was hoppinā on a Sunday for lunch! They donāt do breakfast or brunch on Sunday because of the exceptional lunch spread.
The fried chicken was tender and well seasoned, the okra crisp and they have a cabbage casserole that, when I went back and saw the picture I took of it, made my mouth start watering. Crunchy, salty, cheesy, creamyā¦Iād make an entire meal out of that amazing stuff!!
Staff were so kind to us and everyone who came in. Loved our lunch in Lincolnton...
