Visited this restaurant in Litchfield for late lunch. Have eaten at the Merrimack NH location many times but it was at least 15 years since my last visit to the chain. It was excellent...Tina the hostess met us with a smile and quick witted conversation that makes this guy feel right at home. We were sat quickly and attended to by Megan. Again a really nice person that was a joy to meet and have serve us. The menu is SEAFOOD and it's big and has smaller portion options as well with burgers and steak tips rounding it all out. They have desserts too! We tried the Fish Chowder...yummy and full of fish...see the pics. The Corn Chowder was just as good! The small Seafood Platter was just the right size and had a great variety of whole belly clams, baby shrimp, haddock chunks & Sea Scallops. Cooked to perfection. Also had the small Lobster Roll on toated bun. Good amount of meat but I would have liked to see some tail meat...it was all claw meat...it was still very good. Tried the crab cakes as well and they were an excellent choice for add ons. Did I mention how great the service was...it was GREAT & FAST! Next time your in the area give this place a try...I'm sure you will like it!

Place was not crowded and there was plenty of good parking. We chose an outdoor table which was great until the mosquitoes arrived! Waitress was quick and efficient but didn't check on us as often as we felt she should have. We each started with chowder, DH got fish and I got corn. Though both were hot and tasty with ample potatoes, fish or corn I thought $7 for a cup of corn chowder was a little pricey. Food arrived quickly and was well prepared, nicely fried golden brown seafood and fries. My baked potato was perfect and the chopped coleslaw was tasty and not too wet. Portion sizes were very good but I would have liked more coleslaw as I had ordered the large fried haddock plate and only got a small cup. I wasn't crazy about the tartar sauce but I tend to make my own at home so I may be pickier than most people. They do not serve hard liquor here but appear to have a good selection of bottled and canned beers and hard seltzer type drinks. They also offer 8oz burgers that looked tempting. They had some interesting dessert items but we rarely get dessert. Would go again if the seafood bug bites as this is closer than the beach and probably cheaper!

Writing as I wait on the check because I'm so flabbergasted. My wife and I shared both a large bread bowl clam chowder and a jumbo lobster roll. The clam chowder was flavorful, savory, and the clams were fresh and tender. Just the right ratio of clam meat to soup to vegetable to bread. The bowl itself was toasted to perfection and we even finished that to the last. The lobster roll was outstanding. Another toasted-to-perfection piece of bread was the bun, and it held together even after being sliced in half. Great crunch, and very warm. The cold lobster filling was just how you'd expect, which is to say delicious. Perhaps it was a touch too cold, but munching on the fries that came out fresh and crisp made the wait for it to normalize temperature a bit a very pleasing one. Our server, Meg, was very kind. She didn't overstay at our table, but communicated effectively and accommodated our decision process, even letting us sample some soups to help decide. We skipped dessert because we were so full. The bill for our meal was $46.66.

We stopped by The Lobster Boat in Litchfield New Hampshire for a casual family dinner, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with some great highlights and a few areas that could use improvement.

The lobster bisque was pretty decent—creamy, warm, and flavorful. A comforting way to start the meal.

We ordered the Fisherman’s Platter to split, and while the fried haddock was solid and the scallops were good (not phenomenal but certainly not bad), the fried clams were a disappointment. They were listed as whole bellies, but either the bellies were missing or they were the smallest I’ve ever seen. For fried clam lovers—looking at you Clam Box—this part didn’t quite hit the mark.

The shrimp were small and basic, and everything on the platter seemed to be seasoned the same way. It all blended together with no real variation between the items. A bit more differentiation in seasoning or flavor could go a long way. The dipping sauces were standard—tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or a slightly horseradishy cocktail sauce—but again, nothing was uniquely paired to enhance each item.

That said, the kids’ meals were a bright spot. At just six dollars each, they’re a fantastic value. One of my kids got the chicken finger platter, another had buttery noodles, and the third went with Kraft mac and cheese. All three were happy and finished their meals, which says a lot.

Dessert was excellent. The cheesecake was rich and delicious, and the chocolate cake was an even bigger hit. Large portions and full of flavor made for a perfect sweet ending.

All in all, The Lobster Boat delivers a family friendly experience with good service, great dessert, and unbeatable kids’ meal pricing. With some tweaks to the seafood seasoning and a bit more care on the clams, this place could really shine. We’ll definitely be back—for the bisque, the cake, and the...

I ordered through Door Dash, so I can't give an opinion on the atmosphere.

The food was awesome, and even though I had it delivered, it was obvious that they took care in preparing our meals for travel.

It was my boyfriend's birthday, and I requested extra strawberries on his cheesecake. They not only gave him extra strawberries, but his cheesecake came with a birthday candle in it! How thoughtful was that?!

We had a scallops and shrimp combo and a lobster and steak tip combo. Both of us opted for coleslaw and baked potato, and we got an order of onion nuggets.

The coleslaw was very good. So good, in fact, I may order extra next time. Steak tips were perfectly cooked, and the seafood was delicious.

Onion nuggets are the center of the onion instead of the rings, and they are a favorite! I don't know of any other restaurants that offer them.

Of course, the cheesecake was tasty, too! They put the toppings (strawberries and whipped cream) in little containers so that you can put them on yourself as you like.

It definitely won't be our last order from the Lobster Boat in Litchfield, but we'd like to visit on person the next chance we get. I highly recommend them for seafood and steak as well! Oh, and the Coleslaw is a winner, too!

Sorry, no pictures. We were well into our meals before I thought of it....

This restaurant needs to use humans instead of their electronic seating system. We arrived at 6 30pm (to celebrate my grandson's 9th birthday--he wanted a lobster dinner), was told a 45min wait and my hubby used their text program or whatever it's called and after 45mins he got notification our table for 8was ready. When we went in the girl at front desk "oh sorry we notified you by accident" and that it'd be another 15mins bc they "just needed to clean up a bit" so then the wait time on the program my hubby used said it was 14mins, then 17mins then 20, 22, all the way to 30 mins more to wait, for 15mins of "cleaning up a bit"....??? And other parties without loud and restless kids came after us and got seated. Yeah, So needless to say, WE LEFT after nearly 90 mins of waiting with three STARVING children. We went to Rocco's, no wait, got right in and even though they to were short staffed, you wouldn't have known it. So very disappointing that my grandson couldn't have lobster on his birthday Because as you know there aren't many seafood places to eat at nearby where you can get a whole cooked lobster dinner. So needless to say I will NOT attempt to go to The Lobster Boat Litchfield, ever again. But your neighbors at Rocco's, SAVED THE BIRTHDAY. Thumbs...
