We came here yesturday to have dinner with my gf's grandma, and her great grandparents who are in town from Arizona for the weekend before they go and visit the rest of our family in Illinois.
The inside of the restaurant seemed a little small and the seating was a little close together, but it did look like they had patio seating in the back, and the food and service make up for that small inconvenience.
The service was amazing, and for a 6:30 dinner time our food came out really fast. It couldn't have been more than 15-20 minutes tops after we ordered. I didn't even finish more than a qtr of my beer before the food arrived, and I've worked in restaurants for 14+ years, and this was the quickest dinner service I believe we've ever gotten for that time frame on a Thursday night anywhere that was busy. Idk if it's like that all the time, but those cooks were rocking it out in that kitchen.
My gf's great grandma and I both ordered the blackened ribeye with mac and cheese, and she got the tomatoes that came with it, and I got the mixed veggies. The steaks were cooked perfectly to the temps we ordered, the veggies and tomatoes were good, but next time we will all be skipping the mac and cheese because it wasn't that good, and in fact none of us ate it, and took it all home for dog treats, or for a snack when there's nothing else to eat.
My gf's great grandfather ordered a crawfish dinner ( I can't remember the exact dish it was ), but he said it was really good, and they've done a lot of traveling and have ate at many Louisiana style restaurants across the country including in Louisiana so we took his word for it.
My gf ordered the beef stroganoff, and it was really good. Not as good as my mom and I's recipe or her grandma's ( family bias of course y'all ), but it was really good. The meat was very tender and could be cut with a spoon. The only complaint on that one was the portion size of the beef. It was pretty small for a $18 plate so if your like us who likes to eat a lot of meat with your meal you will have to order it with extra beef.
My gf's grandma only got a small side salad since we had lunch at Little India about 5 hours earlier, and she doesn't eat that much for her own personal diet ect.
Overall it was a good choice, and we would definitely go back next time we're on that side of town and want a good dinner.

Read moreOk I went twice I forgot to do my review the 1st time but after going back it would have just gotten updated.. so I ordered the smothered catfish it’s a little heavy on the blackened but it was delicious I give them that my friends liked their food I wasn’t a fan of the Mac it should be called cheesy lasagna.. I ordered a frozen pina colada which came out like a glass of chipped ice milk so she took it back to remake it but I can see the bar from where I was sitting and the bartender comes around the bar but doesn’t wash her hands digs the cherry out of the whip and pours the same drink back into the blender. I felt like it was contaminated and asked her to not to make it she then made me a fresh one that was so delicious I couldn’t wait to get another one! So when I came back only a few days later she seen me walk in immediately I can tell they were talking about me I mean granted I’m African American in a predominantly YT establishment and side of town so the service neither time was what it should have been I felt very unwelcome and when I ordered the drink the waitress made up so many different excuse as to why I couldn’t get a frozen drink I had to ask her which on is it and have her go confirm than she comes back and says it’s broken I order a po boy this time cause that’s what I do I’m a food critic so I had to get something different and I got some red beans and rice in the side they were both ok literally ok the red beans and rice flavor was over powered by hot sausage and the shrimp po boy was skimp only 7 little shrimps it was more bread then any then which was really hard and I don’t like that their food seems so like warm not hot and freshly cooked the meatloaf is horrible needless to say I...
Read moreFirst and foremost, the location is decent, and it has an interesting vibe, plus it was relatively easy for us to find. That being said, parking is a nightmare for weekend brunch. The food was Mediocre. Blah. Meh. (I would've posted a picture but I honestly wasn't even inspired enough to bring out my phone for it.) For what they charge, the food quality and quantity (except the bread bowl.. but it's a bread bowl.. it doesn't cost much for an enormous quantity..) is outrageous. We had a party of 6, two being children and sharing a plate with my husband and I to simplify things. We had pancakes, which was the only decent thing, beignets ($2.25 a piece for what was comparable to a mandarin orange sized friend dough ball with powdered sugar) a bread bowl thingy, a combination plate and a Grits entrée. The grits were bland and cold (you CAN NOT eat cold grits) when they got to our table, the eggs on my MIL plate were supposed to be over easy and we all concluded that they were definitely more undercooked than anyone should consume, which would've been fine if they had fixed the issue, but the wait staff was so over burdened or off somewhere else that no one had checked on us until all our drinks were empty and people stopped touching their plates and they thought they could bring the check... All in all, I can't write an adequate review of this restaurant because I'm getting so flustered remembering MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY BRUNCH FAIL, I'm finding myself just rambling. Don't go here unless you're OK with paying $125+tax and tip, for what was essentially a party of 4, receiving what you could concoct using frozen dinners from the super market. (And only...
