I came to this establishment with high hopes because I've heard people say good things about it.
Let's get down to business. My first impression was older country style. Not to say that's it's bad, it was clean. Felt like an old school country diner.
We wanted to order a bit of everything to try. I ordered the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy on the side and the chicken nuggets. My wife ordered a side of coleslaw (because you can't be a country restaurant if your coleslaw sucks), along with the stuffed chicken (which was just a version of Chicken cordon bleu) with onion rings and lastly a cup of the chicken spicy soup (which was chicken chili).
My food was ok, nothing that's wow worthy. But if you order anything with gravy on it, you'll have to get there really early because they run out of gravy by.. say noon. They're also not willing to make more for any other orders that would come in that day, according to their manager. Even though they were open for another 5-6 hours.
The 'chefs' decided they would just toss chicken cordon bleu sauce over my chicken fried steak and call it a day. They tried with the biscuits as well, but our server stopped that travesty before it happened. Thank you for that.
Usually, I like to give the benefit of the doubt to a restaurant, but this one we will just call it....no. won't be back.
P.S. nuggets were dry!! The ranch was straight out of the hidden valley bottle. How hard is it to make ranch...
Read moreThe food there was amazing! We lived in Atwater for 20 years and never made it out that way, that's my only regret! There hasn't been a restaurant that has exceeded my expectations until now! The atmosphere, Awesome! The service, Amazing! The crowd , friendly and happy 😊! The staff, really outdid themselves with kindness and compassion!❤ You can tell they really appreciate their customers and want them to return! I thought I had been eating some really good breakfasts, until today, when I realized I had just eaten the best, by far!❤ The prices were more than reasonable, since the pandemic we have gotten too used to spending $40, for breakfast for the two of us! Not today, we spent $27 and I got what I wanted ☺chicken fried steak, the taste was clean and full of just the right flavors! I tried a bite of my husband hungry farmer omelet and I thought the Atwater scramble was good, but today I tasted something great! They have dividers at the registers and employees wear masks and so do customers until seated, hand sanitizers were placed in different places accessible to everyone! We will definitely be regulars there, definitely impressed! Spoiler alert you will be full and happy about what you just ate and the amount you are paying doesn't leave you with a...
Read moreI attended this establishment on a Thursday night, which was "all-you-can-eat fried chicken night". I ordered the all-you-can-eat meal, which is about $13, and received my two pieces of chicken, along with mashed potatoes and gravy. When I finished my two (not very big) pieces of chicken, I sat and waited for a waitress to come by. She asked if I'd like more, to which I replied yes please. Then I sat and watched everyone else eat for the next 5 minutes. When she finally brought me my next round of chicken, it was a wing and a drumstick, which I ate in about 30 seconds. I then sat again and waiting for a waitress to be around to see if I'd like more. By the time someone else came by, everyone else was completely finished eating and I knew that if I ordered more, 5 people would be sitting waiting for me to finish. So, I don't know if that's the gimmick, get people to pay $13 for 4 tiny leg pieces of chicken and make them wait 5-10 minutes between rounds, or what.
The food was delicious, which is why I'm giving 4 stars, but unless you have a few hours to wait, I wouldn't suggest their...
