I've visited this restaurant for its sweets a few times and it wasn't until tonight I finally made time to dine in. Parking may be limited since the restaurant is located right next to other businesses. I parked at the True Value hardware store's lot only to realize there was parking right in front of the restaurant.
The interior is small and clean. The small TV and the different decorations around the dining area made me relax. The food exceeded my expectations. I tried their samosas and their chicken biryani and I'm already looking forward to trying more food from the menu. The food was literally steaming hot and tasted really fresh.
So, I was little bummed when the cups of water did not come with ice. Because the food was so hot (not necessarily spicy), I needed to drink something cold. But I managed with a second serving of water. The service overall was good. The waitress was friendly and helpful during my stay. Great food and service! Their green chutney accompanying the samosas is nothing like you have ever tried before! The Garlic Naan was crispy and the egg biryani flavorful. And the Indian sweets were so tremendously good! The Gulab Jamun and Milkcake were fabulous! Just the right amount of sweet! Regret not trying the other varieties of sweets there!
To drive all the way here from San Jose just to eat the food and sweets is a roadtrip as good and rewarding in itself! Such authentic taste of home with that touch of homeliness and hospitality that is so lacking at almost all Indian restaurants in the Bay area, where most places charge a fortune for half the taste and flavor!
Worth checking out this town also, as Livingston welcomes you in Gurmukhi alongside English. Little Punjab in the heart...
Β Β Β Read moreThere is no food like Indian food (for us Indians π). This is not a place to enjoy the ambience or service. If you like tasty Indian food, especially on your trips back and forth from the bay area, this is the place to be. We stopped at this place on our trip back from Yosemite, and we were glad we stopped. We ordered Tea, Samosa, Dahi Bhalle Chat, Masala Lassi, Tawa Rotis, Goat Curry, Bhindi Masala, Kadi Pakoda, Mushroom Do Pyaza. Every thing was very tasty and satiating. Must stop folks!.
Here are the only downsides to this place: The curd could have been creamier and portions of curries larger. We ordered all those things for a group of 4 cause the portions were small (we were hungry after doing the vernal falls trail and driving immediately back). If these things are worked upon, this place...
