Catherines Good Eats — Restaurant in Lockland

It really hurts my heart to leave this review. I had very high hopes for this restaurant being that it had almost a five-star rating on doordash. Plus with this being a soul food restaurant, which we really don't have many of in Lockland or surrounding areas, I set my expectations really high. I have lived in the area for 3 years and have noticed that there is no consistency with the restaurant hours. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to run a small restaurant especially after covid. Initially they were open several days a week, but there was no regular times. Then it was just a couple days, again with no set times of business. Now they are just only open on Sundays. I took advantage of the fact that they are open today and I ordered the six-piece wings with mac and cheese and greens which also came with a cornbread muffin. When I received my delivery, I was very disappointed. The chicken wings have been fried way too long. They were extremely hard and the meat was very dry. To add insult to injury, there was no flavor. No seasoning, just fried flour. The cornbread muffin had really good flavor however you have to eat with a spoon. It just crumbles to Tiny pieces. The mac and cheese tastes very similar to popeye's, absolutely no flavor. The most disappointing part were the greens. I believe they tasted like canned Glory greens with some meat tossed inside of them. There is no extra seasoning or flavor, what you get out of the can is exactly what you're getting with these greens. This might be exactly what some people are looking for but wasn't for me. I too cook, no I don't have my own restaurant but I have people who contact me all the time to cook for them. I promise you adding seasoning is going to help your business go a long way. My 1st time here and I must say the customer service was amazing. It’s so hard to find good customer service these days but at Catherine’s customer service was top tier. So I ordered the turkey ribs, Mac&cheese, yams and a side of fried chicken. Now I’m not gone lie the ribs can use a little bit more seasoning but it was still good. Now everything else especially the yams was finger licking good. And she threw in some pond cake delicious. When I come back in town I will be looking forward to trying other dishes. I would give this place a 10 out of 10 if I could! I had their whiting fish dinner with Mac, collard greens, potato salad and corn muffin and it was chef's kiss! 💋 I also had her pound cake and it tasted just like my grandma's! The owner and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely pay the restaurant a visit again...
