I had 2 bad prior experiences with pollo shaddai but honestly it was not their fault I order frequently via Uber eats and DoorDash The first time I ordered I was delivered someone else’s order, and pretty sure it wasn’t even from them , my second order the driver never showed yet picked up my food I finally got to try it , third times a charm right ? I was married to a Guatemalan for 8 years And spices were never really a thing in his family , most food had little to know spice or heat He also loved pollo campero we frequented there often and he would sweat at eating their salsa verde which for me ni picaaaa wasn’t hot at all for me So when I heard pollo shaddai was chapin I was expecting bland and no flavor food (perdóname !) wow I was wrong Dead wrong I got the shaddai crazy which was their chicken and loaded fries on the side Fell in love Definitely made me eat my words hahaha maybe it’s just a difference where people are from in their country and how food is made
The fries made me completely in love, the spice of the picamas wowwww! Love loveeee loved and adored
The chicken reminds me so much of pollo campero So if your reminiscing of pollo campero there chicken is definitely a fix that will complete that craving
I love their tradition chapin rice , the Russian salad is definitely another Guatemalan chapin staple
If you’re looking for authentic guatemalteco comida pollo shaddai is definitely...
Read moreEveryone has different tastes. My wife and I both like very flavorful and spicy foods. We ordered the fried chicken dinner, two of the crazy corn (corn on the cob with different sauces drizzled over it), a chicken burrito and a steak burrito. The fried chicken and crazy corn we're excellent and we highly recommend those. The burritos were very large, Chipotle style, much bigger than we were expecting from the pictures so the portion size is big. The rest of the food we found to be rather bland though. Maybe you have to ask for spicier but they didn't ask either. The steak in steak burrito was rather tough but nicely char grilled. Both the chicken and steak burritos were otherwise fairly bland. The side of salsa also didn't have much flavor and almost no spice. The vegetable salad, cooked peas and carrots in a cream sauce also didn't have much flavor. The black beans also don't have any seasoning. So overall the quality of the food was good but we were just hoping for some more bold flavors. If you order from here we'd also recommend the hor chatta. It's a very refreshing drink with cinnamon, vanilla, and...
Read moreI was looking for something authentic but not too far out of my comfort zone and close to the house, so I tried Pollo Shaddai. It exceeded expectations! I got their signature dish, pollo shaddai, and while it wasn't completely unique from other fried chickens it was definitely delicious. The chicken legs are HUGE! The chicken skin is crispy and doesn't slide. The batter is a little sweet, but good. Just enough to remind you you're eating Guatemalan food. They also are open later than most restaurants in this part of town. So if you are looking for a spin on fried chicken while supporting local business, I definitely recommend...
