Update: Thursday, April 11, 2024 PM We ate at Richmaid last night so tonight we decided to come to this other local eatery. I’ve been here before and the food is usually pretty good. I ordered the chicken dinner with spaghetti. Dinner was good. Chicken pieces are very small. The drumstick was a size of the drum of a chicken wing! I like the spaghetti. I also had the split pea soup. They always offer some simple kind of soup. But the soup was homemade! My son had the three cheese raviolis with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara sauce. He said they were OK. Dinner come with a nice soft dinner roll. Good service. A couple of the servers came by to check on us during the meal. The owner even stopped by to chat! Long live Golden Ox‼️

Update: Wednesday, August 9, 2023 PM Second time I’ve been here in a week and had the same Greek chicken. What does that tell you? It should tell you that this is good home style cooking. I think most items are made from scratch. I don’t cook at home so I appreciate a diner like this. Great place. Go there. You won’t regret it!! Go for the trains and stay for the food! :)
There’s really nothing I can say about this awesome little diner that hasn’t already been said. I had the Greek style chicken plate the other night. Same taste that my grandma would have made! This is a family run operation. Homestyle cooking. Good food. Incredible atmosphere…you’re surrounded by trains. Cheerful service. If you’re a local, you most likely have eaten here. If you’re not a local, stop here and check it out. You...
Read moreI really love the train decor because I am a big fan of trains. That is because they are the most efficient form of transportation and are highest capacity. While intercity trains may be seen as an outdated form of transportation in North America and Australasia, they have come full circle. Hopefully, this retaurant decor makes people support California High-Speed Rail much more.
Once the true High-Speed Rail opens in the Central Valley in the second half of the 2020s, I can forsee tourists taking the high-speed rail just to be able to take day trips from one end of the valley to the other, especially with all the national parks. For example, people from Bakersfield could take a day trip to Yosemite by getting off at Merced. Similarly, people from Fresno could easily take a day trip to Downtown Sac when the later stage is complete. This will lead to a huge revitalization of Central Valley downtowns and their metropolitan areas in general. Similarly, out-of-state visitors could now conveniently drop by Fresno and Bakersfield on the way between San Francisco and Los Angeles, rather than skip entirely it via the airplane. Hopefully, this will in turn spur enough local train demand to upgrade the Amtrak California's San Joaquins to a commuter rail service like Caltrain, which would greatly help Lodi and other mid-size Central...
Read moreHad loved this place since I first tried it but for me, customer service is VERY important and what I had experienced today has tipped it over. My family and I will no longer go back to this stupid establishment. All thanks to the owner Isabel. My pregnant wife had made an order over the phone and asked for 2 bacon avocado cheeseburgers w/ no onions nor pickles and 2 cheeseburgers w/ no onions nor pickles. We got home, a lot of pickles and onions were on both of the bacon avocado cheeseburgers. It made my wife sick, so I called to make a complaint and they offered a refund. So my wife and I go back to exactly that, but apparently, they wanted their burgers back. And nowhere in that phone call did this person say to bring back any burgers. They’re telling one thing on the phone and telling us something else in person. And the owner came out to argue with us about this refund and telling us that we had ordered it another way and only offered a refund for not even ONE of those burgers. And I had paid $75 for the whole order, and offered $12 w/ change. Coming from the owner herself, that is THE WORSE customer service. Thanks Golden Ox but your owner is...
