We chose Urban Grille for our Valentine's Dinner on Saturday around 5:30 based on online photos and reviews. We didn't have reservations and were told we could sit at the bar, which was okay, but there were plenty of tables available the entire time we were there. Husband ordered an old fashioned and it was just bourbon with some bitters and a splash of simple syrup, no orange or cherry. There was only one choice for dinner and that was a $40 four-course dinner with either a strip steak or salmon for the entree. We could have gotten up but said okay, this sounds good, we could do this. Course one salad was alright, nothing crazy, greens with cranberries and some cheese and balsamic dressing. Then came lobster bisque, and that was alright if you could get around the tiny shells. But then the main course came. The low-quality strip steaks were frozen when they were put on the grill, causing a slightly grey color and strangely textured center. It was tough to cut, full of arteries and thick veins that pulled out of the meat, and covered in a peppercorn sauce. The sides were instant potatoes with a large puddle of butter and glazed canned carrots. The abundance of juice from the frozen-grilled steak, the butter from the potatoes, the sweet glaze from the carrots and the annoying peppercorns made the grey steak sloppy sweet and really difficult to stomach. I opted for the steak over the soy-ginger salmon because I didn't want sweet meat in my entree, but it backfired. I wish the gravy sauce had been put on the potatoes instead of all that butter, sans peppercorns. Overall, probably the worst $115 meal we've ever eaten. We joked that we wished we would have ran into someone on the way to our car to warn them to pick somewhere else to eat. I know we weren't the only ones who felt this way because we saw the plates of the people at the table behind us before they left and it was only half-eaten, too.
Other notes: the service was great, and the bartender was attentive and friendly. Wait staff had to tell the patrons that came in that they would have to wait to be seated, but there were enough staff standing around that someone really could have been at the hostess stand. We took our fourth course, lava cake, to go, and they did send it still cold and even wrote how long to microwave it on the top of the box, which I appreciated!
We didn't like this meal but might try it again when we get to pick what we want to eat because the rest of the photos on Google Reviews did look really good - especially that...
Read moreWe have been going here for years. We do love and appreciate the staff. However, since the new owners have purchase the restaurant it has been nothing but problems trying to get a table to have dinner. 1st time we ate we seated ourself outside only to be yelled at for seating ourself. The second time we went in for dinner we found out we could only eat if we had a reservation… So we have made it appoint to eat I. The off times. Tonight however was the worst, I made a reservation on the google account because the phone number listed to the google account doesn’t work…. After I made the reservation on google I sent a message on messenger though Facebook to make sure we could be seated outside since the weather was so awesome today…. When we showed up at the resultant there was no reservation and no one had responded to the message on messenger and the beat they could do was give me a hand written phone number to call to make a reservation…. The only reason it is getting 3 stars is because of the waitresses that we have spend years with eating at this...
Read moreI guess I should've researched more to realize this restaurant was on a golf course. My husband and I weren't really dressed "appropriately" for that type of setting (collared shirt, dress pants, etc). We definitely felt out of place, but chose to stay. We had to eat out on the back patio because we didn't have a reservation, which was fine. Our waitress (Sarah) was very sweet. I had seen raving reviews online for the Prime Rib, so that's what we had gone for. Once we got there, we didn't see it on the menu. Which was also fine. Menu's change. My husband got a burger and I got the sirloin steak. I ordered the steak because it was supposed to come with a garlic butter topping. It's my favorite way to have a steak! I was disappointed when it didn't and it was overcooked for my liking, but still decent enough. The coleslaw was excellent. I also got sweet potato fries. They were pretty good, just wish they had a good, sweet dip like a lot of places, ya know? But no biggie! My husband loved his burger! We also got the bacon Mac n cheese bites and those...
