Bluuuuuues music, hits the soul. We got the meatloaf, which was different in texture, flavorful, and not dry. The ribs, which you only get on the weekend mainly, knock you out, be prepared for a thick peppered crust though. The pulled chicken, tasty. And this pulled pork, goodness gracious. The waffle fries were fresh. The coleslaw was slightly creamy with a bit of vinegar tang. The Nanner Puddin, lip smackin. They have a few BBQ sauce choices, me being from a vinegar based city… this does ok. It’s not the vinegar based that you’d expect. Carolina gold, states more mustard-y. Still all delicious. I mix the sauces. You’d expect some collard greens or some Mac and cheese at a bbq joint. Where I come from, it isn’t one unless that’s served. So, not a whole lot of focus on sides here, limited. That’s the only disappointment. There is a bar attached to it, I’ve not been on that side. Yet. The jazzy friendly atmosphere, makes you just wanna kick back and enjoy life. Amazing. We’re so full, we’re rollin out.
*Service was amazing one day. Went back the following week and we were not met with the same hospitality. Especially from 2 of the guys working the lines. Also, seemed as if they were not prepared to be open. And the food rolling out was mediocre at best. I was disappointed with how dry everything was. So, I did adjust my original review a tad, obviously you want consistency and that’s not the case here. I figure I’ll give it another try and see how it goes. Hit or miss? Laid back is great,...
Read moreBased on other reviews and photos, the food here looks good, unfortunately, I didn't get to experience it. Having family in town, I invited them to try this restaurant I had seen good things about but hadn't been to. Imagine my disappointment when, on a Friday night at 7, we walk in and are told there's nothing available but pulled pork. The establishment didn't have a single other person eating there, but had a packed bar. The tables were untouched. So untouched that when we first walked in we stood awkwardly at the door, because no one greeted us, before making our way to a table. We sat at the table for an uncomfortable amount of time before we stood up and went back to the front and the waitress finally acknowledged us.
How does a BBQ restaurant run out of meat at peak business hours on a Friday night in summer when most businesses are doing their top sales? Particularly, how do they do this with not a single patron eating the food and everyone drinking? It's because this place appears to be a bar where, maybe sometimes there's BBQ, disguising itself as a restaurant.
Despite the owners reply, this establishment is currently advertising itself as being open until 11PM, not 7PM. Regardless, there is still no limited 'menu in the lounge', if all the...
Read moreThis was my second trip to Durham’s with a long stretch in between visit. May have been over a year since last trip. Seems like they were just getting things up and running and had not been open in that spot very long. That said, I had forgotten how good the Q was. Had the Brisket basket today with beans. The Brisket is fantastic. The setup is like a Texas Q joint where you order at a cafeteria style window (think Chipotle line). They do have a decent size dine in area but it’s an easy in and out if you are eating on the run. I’ll be back soon to try the Pulled Pork and Ribs. Not to mention the Smoked Sausage. They also had a sign they had just put up on the window that said “Smoked Queso.” Sounds fantastic. I could have ordered everything on the menu today but will just have to break it down into a few items per trip. Looking forward to next visit. If you are seeing this from the interstate or from a distance, it’s...
