A Londonderry staple, and it's easy to see why.

It was a busy Friday night, and the wait staff appeared to consist of only three girls. You'd think they would be tense under those circumstances, but that was not the case. Polite, bubbly, and all around cheerful and pleasant. A very nice experience for both me and my girlfriend after a long day!

The restaurant itself has an odd layout. Almost like an old school diner with an attached house would be one way to describe it. But layout aside, the place was clean. Vents dust free, tables wiped, and immaculate restrooms.

With the exception of the carrots, the food is amazing. The carrots weren't gross, just plain and boring. A simple boiled carrot and that's it. Add some butter, salt, and pepper and boom. Much better. That said...

Best clam chowder ever, and loads of clams. Usually it's all potato, that's not the case here! Perfectly seasoned also. I always need extra pepper for my chowder, but not this time!

Potato skins were crispy, cheesy, salty, gooey morsels of flavor explosions just waiting to be devoured!

We both got the meatloaf dinner. They didn't say that each portion was a legit entire meatloaf! Again, perfectly seasoned! Also a nice firm, but soft texture. It was not mush, which alot of places end up serving. Although, not on the menu, they do have mashed potatoes and they do it right.

The gravy seemed a little lazy as it clearly tasted of McCormick's instant gravy, this being a little to salty. Getting it on the side may have been a better decision on my part.

This location also acts as a truck stop in regards to parking and dining!

Bottom line is, this place slams! 100% will be back. Oh and btw, they do breakfast all day as well as provide quite a few lobster dishes. The lobster Benedict's sound delicious!

Thank you for an out of this world experience poor Boy's staff!

Update 9/20/23

Went back and tried the brisket bennies. Absolutely delicious! The Nitro tenders are also amazing. Not to spicy with a certain zestyness to it!

I cannot recommend this...

The food is decent diner fare, but honestly not always worth it for the price. Prices are certainly higher than I think is justifiable for the quality of the food; I usually enjoy my meal but my wallet gets hit harder every time I go. They have some crazy upcharge prices as well, such as an extra $7.99 to load your hashbrowns, multiple dollars for minor upgrades such as chocolate chips or adding onions, and they charge nearly $7 for a muffin (which used to be around $3 when I first went years ago!). While I understand the economy justifies price increases in recent years, the menu prices here are inflating faster than in the economy, with nearly everything up over 50% from recent years. The thing that really got to me was they recently took away the cup of coffee that was included with the cafe special for years (without updating the website), making the cost of that meal WELL over $20 with tip and tax (not including the unreasonably high upcharges). This new management has truly gotten wild with the upcharges and prices and has a condescending attitude towards customers who are struggling with the new prices, as if a 100% price increase is nothing to be concerned about. The reason I'm giving one star is because the manager seems to be dismissive of her customers, saying that the price doesn't matter because the food is so good that customers will come back regardless. "They'll keep coming anyway." Actually, no- they won't necessarily. The food is good, but OVER $25+ for a breakfast that used to be around $15 with tip/tax will result in me no longer patronizing Poor Boy's nearly as frequently, if at all. Poor Boy's Diner is for rich boys now unfortunately, and I will be happy to remove this one-star review or update it to a proper rating when/if the cup of coffee is added back to the Cafe Special. I’m not making demands or anything, as management can do as they please because it is their restaurant; but I genuinely believe this one-star rating deserves to be factored in until they...

I've been coming here for years. I used to live nearby and would visit daily. I wish I could still visit everyday but due to distance its not easy. However, it is still amazing to come in after a period of time and still see the same great staff with some new faces. The food is always good and consistent! I love love love their corn chowder! I love their steak! I love their Thanksgiving / Turkey dinner! I love their breakfast! You know what? I don't think I have ever had something from here that I didn't like! This is a popular spot for truck drivers and travelers. There is plenty of parking Handicap accessibility also throughout the restaurant. If you have never been here, definitely give them a try!

As it had been some time since my last visit, we were in the area and decided to come in. Facebook list the times of closing at 9pm but a printed note on the front door had new hours. When I walked inside, a woman told me they closed at 8. I honestly at that moment thought I walked in at 8:45 and I felt so stupid. So I left. When we all got back in the vehicle I looked at my watch when I realized it was only 7:45!! I called and asked if that was standard procedure to tell people so they don't come in? I was told absolutely not. I asked if we could come back. He welcomed us back and the waitress, she was so kind. (Obviously a different lady than the one who told us to screw basically.) Anyway, she was great and our food was great. We felt REALLY BAD about coming so close to closing but no one has updated times online. There's no way for people to know proper closing times. Anyway, even though it didn't start off good, it ended off well. Like I said I've been coming here for years and it hurts I can't come as often as I would like anymore because we do not live a stone throw away and this was the first time I have ever experienced anything like that. I do appreciate it being sorted out...

We dined here this morning, mind you a slammed Sunday morning with a line out the door! We got in very quickly, our server was sweet friendly and fast! Skinny redhead I forget her name but she was great! But that’s not the point of this review! The focus today is on the staff as a whole and their exceptional level of proffessionalism. At the end of our meal a large lady came in with her toddler and snapped at a server who asked her how many in her party. She said obviously two, even though there were about six people waiting to be sat. As it’s Sunday morning in a breakfast place there’s no availability! To be expected! They clean off the first table and set them up and the lady walks halfway over and rips her child backwards and states that “obviously she needs a booth, that should be common sense”. She got back in the front of the line dragging her son who at this point is bawling. She’s snapping at other guests and multiple waitstaff. Not oNCE did they flinch or react the way I would have! I would’ve told them their patronage wasn’t welcome here and they could’ve taken that attitude somewhere else and asked for service. She was huffy puffy stomping and full of attitude. At our restaurant we would’ve refused her. I feel so sorry for her son. Knowing this is the type of guest to cause a scene and complain about everything to get their check comped we gave her server 30$ for wasting her time with them. Just for the way that situation was handled we would come back. They all have teamwork, smiles and patience!

There are certain stereotypes that come to mind when roadtripping across the rural backroads of the United States. One of those is about diner food; it'll fill you up and leave you feeling heavy, but you don't really expect it to be a great meal. Breakfast here was about what I'd anticipated in that regard. I ordered the garden omelette with tater tots and multigrain toast. I'm used to enjoying omelettes where the fillings and egg are cooked together into one cohesive item. In this case, strangely enough, the fillings seemed as though they were cooked entirely separately from the egg, which was then folded over - like a taco! The egg part could've used more salt, too, as the omelette was rather bland overall. Altogether, it was quite a bit of food, and if I had been close to home I definitely would've been able to take leftovers to go. Another diner stereotype is about the people who live and work here. But to my surprise, we had the sweetest, friendliest server, and I was thoroughly impressed that my expectations in that regard were surpassed. Based on the "poor" in the name, as well as the diner's rural location, you'd think that your order here would be pretty cheap. As it turns out, prices are about the same as what you'd find in the city, too. If you're driving through New Hampshire, you probably don't have too many choices on where to stop for food. As long as you keep your expectations average, this diner isn't a decent choice.
