Go for the barely alcoholic drinks, enjoy the curated appetizers, leave swiftly before dessert. The entrance has a strange fishy odor reminiscent of an 1865 brothel. Less than ideal for a restaurant with a 50-100 dollar per person anticipated ticket. Avoid the tuna tartare, it is actually guacamole with some tuna sadness stuffed beneath it. The tuna in it is neglected, tough, and generally unworthy of the tartare name. On to our dinner experience. The Ramen is bashful if not shameful, the cheetos add nothing but soggy sadness. The broth lacks flavor, texture, and depth, remeniscent of sad college ramen days. The egg was soft boiled, rather than unctuous and silky it was dry and hard, like a bad tinder date. The seared tuna was shameful. The golden retriever in the car ate it with regret. It was not seared, it was sad, the engine block of my diesel BMW could sear it better. Either powerstroke could readily outsear that baby. It wasn't marinated, it was sad, unloved, B team tuna. They should venture down the road to blue claw market for better local tuna, and some dry ice to freeze it and make it sashimi grade. This was an affront to fine dining and shore seafood. The thai steak tip salad was a solid F. Not an Ivy League F, a community college F. Steak tips have no place on a fine dining menu, this isn't TGI Fridays. Especially for 27ish dollars. It was so lackluster the ramen seemed passible. That is saying something. The steak tips were all cooled medium well, with no question how we wanted them cooked. Saving grace, the Barnegat Light Scallops with pea risotto. I sure hope they were sashimi grade or all the food poisoning is mine to be had. Devin with an I was a stellar server, and the manager was kind and stopped by, but how do you explain an entire 386.00 meal was unworthy of the fluffy family dog? It is easier to smile nicely and pay kindly, however, avoid it. Visit ship bottom seafood and bring your own drinks, OR, stop by the Old Causeway, save 100.00 and have a much better meal. Your manager was lovely, and as someone who owns three small businesses, she was very busy managing the fires she could put out. My review was typed in your restaurant after paying the check. This is because every day we owe every customer, at your restaurant or my three offices and one food truck, the very best. Every member of your team needs to bring 1000% every day, we live in a world where do-overs are few and far between. I love your reply, and I sincerely hope our poor experience results in a better experience for everyone who comes after us. If not, we just hope you take care of Devlin, she earned just about every star Daddy-O's received. I added a photo of the Golden Retriever eating the seared Tuna as Google left room for photos. If your Chef ever wants a consult, let us know, we want you, and every restaurant on LBI and within NJ to succeed, just bring your A game. Your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had lunch here, with a friend, and generally enjoyed the food though many other aspects of the experience leave a lot to be desired.
The waitress was newāsomething she confessedābut I don't think I would have known if she wouldn't have said, she was lovely. If I were to rate simply her service, she would receive nearly five stars.
My real issue concerning the food was when I asked if the Kitchen uses peanut oil. Instead of being given a simply yes/no response the waitress, clearly sent by the chef, actually informed me that people with nut allergies can have peanut oil. Not only is this not always true (which I explained as nicely as I could, admittedly I was irritated, not at her but at the chef), but it is a very concerning and rude response to a paying customer with a life-threatening (anaphylactic!) allergy. The situation was resolved; I was told the kitchen had switched to soybean oil. But quite honestly after all of the pomp and circumstance, I'm not sure I believe that's true and if someone told me they do currently use peanut oil but the chef didn't feel like dealing with the situation I wouldn't be surprised.
Look, not sure how things roll at Daddy O, but a chef that feels the needs to tell patrons what is and isn't okay for them to eat? Yeahhhh doesn't seem right to me. Especially when he A. doesn't know anything about my specific allergy but also, B. doesn't know anything about my specific health and other conditions I might have. I've had bad allergy experiences, but nothing quite as confusing or head scratching as a chef like that...
EDIT: y'all it is my opinion that I was lied to after how my body reacted to the food I consumed, I repeat, it is my opinion!!
Generally, food was decent for lunch, I had a chicken sandwich which was a little dry/overcooked around the edges. But, I ate half and took the rest homeānot sure if it's worth $22, but is any sandwich on LBI? It's a okay lunch...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I booked a room at the Daddy O in Brant Beach, NJ for one night 7/16/19 - 7/17/19. We knew that we would not be in the room other than to sleep and shower so we decided to book the Junior Queen. The room was awful, the floor uneven to the point that when you get into bed your legs are elevated with your head down. When you get out of bed you are walking up hill to the bathroom. Along with the issue with the uneven floor, the mattress on the bed was basically shot. I weigh 122 pounds in clothes and when I got into bed the mattress sank down in the middle. When we reported these issues to the front desk we were basically told that we should have booked a more expensive room. Huh?? First the hotel is being deceptive because they do not mention that the Junior Queen rooms have uneven floors and old mattresses on the beds and if that is not okay than you should book a more expensive room. The front desk gave us a card and said Sammy Ullrich the Hotel Manger would be in the next day. My husband called her and she said the best they could do was give 10% which was the normal amount they would give. My husband said that it was not acceptable. Ms. Ullrich said she would call the General Manager and speak to him. Today is 7/20/19 and no one has called back. My suggestion is that the General Manager of the hotel Andrew Thulin should spend a night in the room that we were given. The rack price we paid for the room was $264.00 with taxes the total for the room was $294.69.
We have stayed a few times at the Daddy O Hotel, Bay Harbor Island, Miami. Everything there was excellent and we expected the same from this hotel. The last time we were at the Miami hotel was December but sadly it...
