Bagels & Beyond — Restaurant in Long Beach Township

Very disappointed by the food and service. We stayed in the area for 4 nights and got breakfast and lunch there. We ordered simple scrambled eggs and they were the worst that I've ever seen or tasted. My kids wouldn't even eat them. Flat, bland, and burnt pieces of the grill all over them. Later in the day, we ordered two kids meals on Kaiser rolls over he phone. Thought we were told over the phone agakn that they are kids meals, the woman in the front tells me that they are not kids meals because they are on Kaiser rolls and if we wanted kids meals, she would have to take the meat off the already-made sandwiches, put the meat on white bread, then throw the rolls away. What??!!?

The confusion that I had was twofold - 1. We ordered the exact kids meal two days before and it was a kids meal, but today it was not. 2. Who would literally throw away rolls just to put it on bread. Needless to say, we kept the Kaiser rolls and the sandwiches were as lame as last time. Unfortunate that there is nowhere else to eat in walking distance.

Lastly, check our order - it is wrong just about every time you pick up. Even when you order in person, check...

Kids are friendly and food is good but the service is way too slow. Even if you call ahead for pickup, they still make you wait on line. Unfortunately they cannot multitask either, take one order at a time, can't count change, etc...this place would not last in any city but works for LBI.

Update this year. Am taking another star away. Besides the fact that i come in almost 3x a week because I I pass by that often and want coffee, they still treat me as a complete stranger and make no effort to be nice and engage a fairly regular customer for over 6 years. But what really maddens me is the quality this year really fell off. Food is usually overly greasy and sloppy. Just thrown together without any pride in the product. Also prices have gone through the roof. I mean I get the inflation part but 14$ for a chicken wrap? The one bright spot this year is that there is a new guy there, a little older than the kids with a beard. He has personality and hopefully takes over. It would be nice to have someone ask my name after 6 years. Go down ti jersey girl grill about a mile or so south. Excellent quality with excellent...

Bagels and Beyond has a nice assortment of unique bagels. Two examples I can think of... jalapeno cheddar and multigrain everything. We picked up breakfast sandwiches on our way to the beach. They have a good menu. Two things I LOVED about this place...1) they will double cut your bagel which removes a bit more of the inside (if you're watching carbs) and 2) they make hash browns that fit perfectly right on your bagel sandwich! Is that a great idea or what?!? If you're planning to splurge, double cut your bagel and spend those carbs you saved on a hash brown for your sandwich. One of their two LBI locations is also a deli. They also serve hot and iced coffee, juice and other drinks, cream cheese, etc. Very good food, but I wouldn't call it health food,...
