What a gem this restaurant is. I had the pleasure of dining at Black Pork recently and I loved every bite. From the moment we entered we were greeted by the owners and welcomed. The menu alone was a tasty read and got us excited for our meal. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer along with pork tacos and when the food arrived we were nothing less than mesmerized. The mussels are served in a flavor filled sauce that is nothing less than a journey through flavor-town. Truly love at first bite from the start. The pork taco is served with a side of spicy sauce and what a treat this is. The pork itself is so flavorful it needs no help at all but if you like a tasty heat, it's there for the dippin'. Moving on to the main course I ordered the special of the day which was a delectable ribeye steak served with the most magical sautéed vegetables and absolutely heartwarming mashed potatoes unlike anything is ever had. My girl ordered the braised ribs with the same side and we both agree that the vegetables and mashed potatoes are hands down the best we have ever had. We are comparing this to all of the traveling and eating we've done over the years........ no comparison. The most tasty and fresh we've ever had. Our main course, the braised ribs and ribeye were just melt in your mouth. Cooked perfectly. Tender, juicy, and belly filling. The portion size of everything we had was enough to leave us satisfied and filled with enough to take some home for a wonderful late night snack. We ended our meal with a lovely dessert of filled chocolate mousse that was plated beautifully with fresh fruit and peach sauce drizzle. We had an iced americano and the peach, ginger lemonade. I could write a page about how flavorful the drinks alone are but you should just try them and love them. The food, the owners, this restaurant were such a pleasant experience that even as we were there eating we already started talking about when we can come back again because soon just isn't soon enough. Black Pork and the husband and wife owners have won over the bellies and hearts of these 2 eaters for life. We can't wait to go back and I hope you'll stop by for an amazing...
Read moreProbably one of the best lunches I've had in a very long time. Randomly passed this home-in-the-wall on the way to Long Beach and wanted to try it out.
Its a good problem to have when there's too many recommendations on customer favorites. For my first time here, I wanted to try the porchetta since I don't think I've ever had it before.
Also, whoever recommended the iced tea is so right, the scratch made iced tea is perfect on warm day. I got it to go since I wasn't sure if I had time before going back to the office but good thing I started eating there because you need real utensils when eating this special. It reminds me Cebuchon if you know Filipino cooking so the comfort levels were through the roof. Soft, rich and tender but full of flavor with the pork skin crust on the outside. OMG. With the sauce reminiscent of chimichurri and fresh rice, I tried hard not to inhale the whole thing.
Can't wait to go back and bring friends so we can try...
Read moreNot welcoming at all. It's open for breakfast but only has a breakfast burrito on the weekdays. The restaurant is nice and clean. The food was too oily, it wasn't bad, it was just meh, ok. The woman who took my order looked like she was miserable and annoyed because I was there and asking about the menu. I said it was my first time there and I sat there and no one checked on me or asked how I was doing, which is fine, it's just I was getting looked at like, why are you here? It was awkward, there were never any customers there so they could have waited at my table. It's empty and I know this place isn't making a profit. Another beautifully decorated overpriced restaurant in a disgusting part of town, I can see why the staff looked so sad. This place might last for...
