Older woman (Snooki) was extremely pushy and initially suggested that we were dining and dashing bc one of our group members left to go get cash from the car (prior to even ordering). We were extremely taken aback by the comment, but thought maybe we just misunderstood her. Pizza came out, which was subpar at best. Sauce was tasteless and the garlic that was out on our table was rock solid and probably a year old. Only good thing about the pizza was the crispy dough. Finally, check came out and there was a 6$ upcharge for splitting a pie in half (1/2 chicken parm and 1/2 extra special which are both equally priced pies). Totally okay if that’s your store policy, but it is not Indictated anywhere on the menu and was not told to us when ordering. When I suggested to the woman that she let future customers know of this, she said “6$ is nothing to anyone around here, sorry it means something to you”. Yikes! Says a lot about the kind of people running the business here. We’re definitely not returning, and definitely spreading the word to others who had wanted to try....
Read moreGrowing up in Long Branch, Nunzio's was - and continues to be - the pizzeria of choice for my family. It had been over 30 years since I'd been back, but visited yesterday. I suspected that my memories of their absolute legendary pie may have been a tad nostalgically boosted, but instead found it impossibly more perfect than I remember. IMO, a pizzeria should be judged near wholly on its plain cheese pie. I have never found one better than Nunzio's and can't imagine any way to improve on it. The cheese, sauce and seasoning are all spectacular, but what truly launches them above all others is their crust. A perfect Jersey slice demands much from its crust - thin, yet not so thin it can't support a few toppings; seasoned, but by very little more than salt; crisp on the bottom and edges, yet foldable; top soft enough to absorb a little sauce, yet firm enough to be distinguishable from the layer of cheese. Nunzio's has got it all and "the real" Snookie is a shore institution. I'll never again leave without a pie (or 3) in...
Read moreNunzio's Pizzeria has been an established restaurant for a very long time. I have been coming here ever since I was in middle school. If you are visiting Long Branch or Monmouth County do yourself a favor and visit Nunzios. AND HAVE CASH, Nunzio's is still cash only but provide an atm. A good sign of a pizzeria is how good the plain is and that is my favorite along with the sausage and peppers (best REAL sausage around no fake burping it up later sausage) and thinly sliced green peppers. Their Calamari is unparalleled as well because of its crispy and salty goodness in the summer time. Besides the pizza and calamad, the dinners are very good too including the chicken parm or baked ziti. Everything you will eat here will be of good quality and Nunzios will never cut corners like some other businesses who use cheap greasy cheese or who have...
