You ever have a moment where you think, "I wish I could have just a bunch of candy in my ice cream"? Well here at Moomers you can, as well as many other flavors that they rotate daily (currently over 160 flavors).
This place has THE best ice cream I've ever had in my entire life. Which is probably why I keep coming back to it several times each year. It would also explain why, even though it's on a farm in the middle of nowhere there is almost ALWAYS a line for ice cream.
The base ice cream of every flavor is rich, creamy, and smooth and every flavor I've had (my favorite being brownie batter) is jam packed with....well...flavor :D. Not to mention the waffle cones they have are also homemade, and come in a chocolate dipped variety which I highly recommend.
They have tons of different ice cream concoctions. Sundaes, banana splits, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream flights to name a few. You can even get the "Wholey Cow" which is a 10 scoop ice cream sundae if you want something to share with a group, or if your really hungry. If your lactose intolerant worry not, they got you covered with dairy free sorbets of various flavors as well.
The staff is friendly, helpful, and not to mention quick. They have to be with the large number of people they serve every day. The building is always clean and well maintained. They have tons of places to eat and relax, both inside and out. They even hold events in the back section of their store.
Pro tip. If you have a long way to travel and you want to take some ice cream home with you. Give them a call the day before and they can flash freeze some ice cream for you, in case you don't have dry ice.
The only tiny nitpick that I have is I wish they had more paved parking.
Other than that, I cannot recommend this place enough. If your traveling to Traverse City, this is a MUST to stop at. Trust me, the ice cream is...
Read moreI stopped here for a bit of ice cream since I had noticed they offered a variety of Dole Whip flavors. Unfortunately, the time I went, they didnât have flavors that interested me. But more about the ice cream later.
They were busy when we arrived, in part due to the very warm temperatures. I liked the look of the place, and they offered plenty of parking, both in front and to the side in a slightly elevated dirt lot.
The line moved quickly, and soon I was ready to order. They were so busy, though, I hated to ask for a sample. Since Dole Whip wasnât something I wanted, I selected the lemon sorbet, just a single scoop. They offered a cup, a standard cone and a waffle cone. Since I was concerned how fast it would melt, I decided on the cup.
After ordering, you pay at the register next to the ice cream freezer. Then theyâll bring your ice cream to you.
There were a handful of booths inside with additional seating on the deck outside. My wife didnât want anything, so I went back to the car to join her.
The scoop was larger than most single scoops Iâve had, but it was also slightly more expensive, so I thought it evened out. The sorbet wasnât as tart as I usually like it, but it was still refreshing.
There are several places in Traverse City where you can get Moomers Ice Cream, but from what I understood, their flavors are basically fixed. If you want a larger variety that changes over time, then head to this location.
I know weâll be back here when weâre in town again. Iâm the meantime, enjoy a...
Read moreThe line was crazy and the staff was excellent considering the constant influx of people. We stopped by on a Sunday around 3pm. Cherry Moobalee and brownie batter mixed together is delicious. The creamiest ice cream and great flavor. The fresh waffle cone was unbeatable!
My husband got a heath shake and that was excellent. It had a strong toffee taste, very buttery. My daughter ordered a small banana split but they didn't add the banana. The cashier told me that adding the whipped cream and cherry was extra, so I'm assuming the banana would be, too? That doesn't make too much sense considering you're paying a higher price for the banana split, but I digress.
We got the blue moon ice cream for the youngest two and this is the reason I gave 1 less star. There was so much blue food coloring in the ice cream that is stained their bums blue, if you catch my drift. They may want to consider adjusting how much they use because that really doesn't seem good to consume.. especially for children. We simply won't get this flavor again.
Overall it was worth the 20-30 min wait in line and the trip to...
