City Diner — Restaurant in Longview

Eat here several times a month. The waitresses are usually outstanding. The people in the back are a different story. A while back I ordered fried pork chops for breakfast and got grilled pork chops. I took one bite, they tasted terrible, and I put the plate off to the side. I didn’t say anything I just wasn’t going to eat it. The waitress ask if something was wrong and I told her I asked for fried and these weren’t fried and that they were tough and tasted terrible. I told her not to worry about it but she went to the back and came back and said “the cook said he tasted them and nothing was wrong them.” Today I go back and I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with bacon. I took two bites and noticed there was no bacon. I called the waitress over and peeled the egg back in a couple of places and showed her there was no bacon. I told her not to worry about it, just don’t charge me for the bacon. She went to the back and came back with my ticket and said “the cook said he put bacon in it and they said I have to charge you for the bacon.” I told her I showed you there was no bacon. She looked a little scared and said she knew. I told her not to worry and I just wouldn’t come back there again. The second waitress went to the back and told whoever was back there “he said he just won’t come back here anymore”, I guess whoever she was talking to didn’t care because they didn’t come out to check on us. I take my cousin there for breakfast or lunch a couple of times a week. Today I had taken my mother for breakfast. They may not miss my $40 a week on average, and I guarantee you I won’t miss the BS from them. Juicy’s, Lizzie’s Diner or Bell Pepper Cafe will get my breakfast money. At least I get what I order in those places and if they get it wrong they...

Great tasting food , nice portions as well.. and finally great gravy.. 11.5.23... please hire some servers with a personality, the service today was painfully slow. I say thank you every interaction with a staff member, the words "you're welcome" weren't used once.. nor were we thanked for our patronage. I'll return, I'll minutes for my food because quality, but please get some friendly staff . 10-26-24... Not sure what happened, the coffee was the weakest I've ever had,the food portions were noticeably less, my breakfast was cold , not enough gravy given to even cover my biscuit and the cook couldn't swap ham for bacon in a western omelette without making it a huge ordeal... The waitress was very polite and apologetic which was appreciated.. we sure hope this isn't the new norm or it's time to find another favorite place...

Starting off, the food preparation is great here, but the service and the atmosphere is horrible. This is one of our family stops per my sister when coming in from Houston. The space is so tight everyone is basically sitting on top of one another. And the fact it feels like we're in the 1950's walking into a all whites dinner. We walked in and everyone just stopped eating it was so funny, we waited for 15 minutes with no acknowledgment, there were a couple of open tables but it just didn't have a enjoy your breakfast feel that morning. Hate that because the food is very good. We left out and enjoyed our time at Golden Corral. That was our last time stepping...
