Where to be begin...
The building itself has that hole in the wall vibe. The service itself is just "ok". Upon first impression, you'll wonder what on earth you're doing here.
None of that matters. If you like Mexican (not Tex-Mex) food, eat here. Period. Save for the corn chips, EVERYTHING is home made. This includes the flour and corn tortillas. This fact alone plays HEAVILY in my reviews of Mexican joints. This place has fantastic food: from the birria, guisados, tacos, sauces, salsas, beans, and rice. Everything I've tried is the real deal. Even the aguas (fruit drinks) are made from scratch with real fruit. I can't express how much I want more people to try this place. The prices are more than reasonable, and the portions are incredibly surprising. Don't miss out on the savory empanada plate either.
Overall, this is one of those places I hope doesn't get too popular, because I'd hate for such an authentic taste to get overrun by corner cutting due to increased traffic. Is that selfish if me? Of course it is. Eat here, and you'll understand what I...
Read moreMy husband and I are crazy about tacos. And let me just say that these birria tacos are hands down the best we’ve ever eaten.
The tacos were FULL of meat and cheese. They were not stingy with the filling at all. The meat was tender, the cheese was melty and gooey… Each bite was packed with intensely delicious flavor. And the tortillas still had an amazing crunch, even through the softness from being soaked in the sauce.
The birria dipping sauce only added more amazing flavor. It was deep, rich, and savory. Not too salty either. (My husband literally drank the extra!!)
The thoughtfulness of putting the toppings on the side was genius as well! We also loved the addition of the pickled purple onions.
This is our new favorite place to get tacos on Taco Tuesdays. We will be back...
Read moreWe went for for our 1st time yesterday for lunch and were surprised at how busy they were at 11, so took that as a good sign. It took a while to get our food but there looked to be only 3 people working so it was understandable. They do not have chips and salsa, so that and the salsa they do have felt like I stuck my tongue to a hit skillet overpowering hot, is why I took off a star. The beans are hands down some of the BEST I've ever had!! If you're looking for simple, authentic flavors then you will not be disappointed. Compared to larger restaurants that use lots of seasoning it seems bland in comparison so keep an open mind & remember it tastes like what it's supposed to actually taste like. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Very sweet ladies. We're glad we...
