Last weekend we hosted a very special and very intimate event for my mother's birthday. We decided purchase one instead of doing labor. We requested, the customer service was poor upon requesting Tres Leches, there were no questions asked about the cake like, what size of cake, how moist do you want it, etc. I blew it off, placed the order. We picked up the cake at 4:17 in the afternoon, the exterior was beautiful, I was extremely happy and thanked them multiple times! Well I was worried because we were going to be in the car with the cake for more or less about an hour traveling to our destination, we kept checking the cake periodically to make sure it was still holding itself together, (because with tres Leches it's heavy using four types of milk IN THE FILLING making it EXTRA moist and delicious) but the cake was perfect like as if we JUST picked it up, so I began to question how much milk was actually used, I put it in the fridge. We ate the cake about 10 pm that night, when we bit into it, the very top later was obviously creamy because of the whip, but after the very thin layer of "saturated milk" the rest taste like normal basic vanilla cake.. I was so disappointed and seeing my family's reaction, when this is a tradition and suppose to be a very special event. We did not finish the cake, it was not a tres Leches. I reached out after A WEEK of calming myself down. I reached out the owner and told her that it looked beautiful, but it was not what we asked for, we just simply would like our money back in the most professional and respectful way possible. She didn't let me speak, completely dismiss my feelings and compared me to other customers, their likes as well as rejected my refund and I was hung up on. I will settle this. I am a Direct Marketing Manager and own my own company. I know how to market a product, have a listening ear and be sympathetic, and MOST importantly take rejection with a positive attitude. People are unique, not everyone is going to be pleased with your product, despite all of it, no business should be...
Read moreMy wedding was a last minute,Thanksgiving Wedding. I was sad that I wasnât going to have the traditional cake tasting. I called Golden flake bakery in hopes that it was not to late to get a wedding cake. They agreed to make me a two tiered cake. I drive down to find out my choices and finalize everything. I was torn between two different centers. To my surprise the owner went back and put together a small cake with each half of the two choices. I Got My CakeTasting! I was able to take the rest home to my husband to be and have him have a tasting as well. We were so stuffed from thanksgiving that when it came time to cut the cake, our bites were so tiny that we really did not get a good taste. Our cake was put in a walk in freezer on November 25th. Today is December 15th and we brought home the bottom portion of our cake and thawed it out. We had a piece tonight and it was so moist and delicious. I hear that their donuts and pastries are great too so I will definitely try...
Read moreI needed a last minute simple wedding cake for this weekend and Golden Flake was able to provide us with a cake. The cake looked good on the outside and kept its shape on our way home. The only issues I had was the storefront and the cake taste. I definitely hold sympathy for everyone with small businesses as I have one myself and know what itâs like. When I went to pick up the cake, the front of the store looked like it had been out of business for a long time, with a sign on the door telling you to call when you arrive. Upon entering to collect our cake, the store was full of empty refrigerators and shelves. It was very dusty and dirty with a strong smell of asbestos. Honestly the store reminded me of an abandoned building. The owner was very sweet and boxed up our cake, however, it was dark and grimy in the building and unfortunately the cake tasted just the way the store smelt. The cake looked great but unfortunately wasnât a hit at...
