We came across La Misericordia Bakery in South Central LA while getting an oil change for my daughter’s car, and I’m so glad we did! I ordered the La Chingona Torta, and it was hands down one of the best tortas I’ve ever had. It’s loaded with all kinds of meats: chorizo, ham, hot dog, carne asada, chicken, and more — and it’s huge! I shared it with my daughter, and we were both super full.
They also have a big selection of fresh bread and tons of different drinks. You can tell it’s a family-owned business that really cares about their food and customers.
Parking can be a little hectic. We had to park about a block and a half away. There’s not much seating available. When we went, there was only one gentleman working, taking orders and cooking, so it did take a bit of time. It might’ve just been that other staff weren’t available that day.
I was so hungry I completely forgot to take a picture of my food — but I did manage to snap a photo of my happily eaten torta after! 😄
