This place needs a serious overhaul. The staff has gotten friendlier and the counter area looks cleaner and more organized compared to how I remember my past visits. However, the food has just been consistently terrible. I have given this place so many chances throughout the years because I really want to support Filipino businesses -- especially those that have been around for a very long time. But I'm certain that my recent visit to this restaurant is going to be my last.
It's no mystery that Filipino food is not that healthy, but the food at this location is SO FATTY and greasy. I allow myself to occasionally indulge on the rich cuisine I grew up with but their food is just not worth it health- or money-wise. Not only is it ridiculously unhealthy, it's also not the freshest. Most of their food taste so old. I can't quite put my finger on it but... maybe they reuse their cooking fat or oil? Or their mixing their old batches with the new? Either way, they need to change something in their kitchen because something is definitely amiss in their dishes. I won't...
Read moreWe visited only to purchase desserts - mainly for Ginataang Bilo-Bilo. I remember visiting before but just to see what they had. The aunties here were really nice and helpful. We also got some Bibingka and Turon, too - the Turon was not bad but it would've been better if they were fresh. I think they may have been cooked earlier that day or may be even a couple hours ago. The Bibingka is good. It was lightly sweetened, spongy and even had pieces of salted egg in it which complimented the flavor of it completely. They had a lot of different desserts ranging from yema rolls, cassava, suman, puto, kutsinta - just to name a few.
I gave them four stars because I haven't tried any of their common dishes yet. Judging by the looks of the food on the line, it all looked tasty. They had all kinds of food - lumpia, pork and chicken adobo, empanadas, lechon, kare-kare and even dinuguan! Maybe next time because today, we were too full to try anything because we just finished dining next door at our favorite Thai...
Read moreThe place is not very sanitary (inside and out). I want to forgive them if service and food is good (I like hole in the walls)... but then, both are not. There is no process of ordering (or selecting food). They don’t encourage people to get in line. You don’t know if you are suppose to start at one end. Servers will not even ask if I’ve been helped. It’s chaotic in there! Someone finally got to me after they served their acquaintances. The food is greasy! It seems like everything’s soaking in fat! I was very hungry but l just can’t stomach the grease, so after a couple of bites, I threw the rest away. I walked over to a Filipino chain restaurant next block over. I hate to say but they’re much better in terms of cleanliness,...
