I'm really mystified as to how this place got such high ratings. I got a sampler from the deli cases on a Wednesday afternoon -
Oatmeal raisin cookies: raisins were so small and dried up, it was hard to tell they were in there. Stale.
White chocolate chip cookies: not too bad. A little stale.
Date bar: crumbled nicely, but date filling was rubbery
It got worse when i got to the two most important items....
Florentine cone with mocha filling - cone was extra chewy, as if it had been thawing from a freeze. The mocha filling was just thick buttercream frosting. They apparently don't understand how important texture is. I never had a florentine that made me want to gag before.
Lemon bar - lemon bars are supposed to be light and sweet and tangy. The crumbles were heavy, the filling was rubbery (stale), and there was low sweetness and zero tang.
If only one or two items had been below par, i'd have remained silent. But this was a tragic letdown. It almost makes me wonder if this was just a really bad week for them and all the stock was getting old, but that doesn't explain the horrible choice of filling treatment for the mocha florentine cones.
Maybe the birthday cakes are better? I won't be spending the money to find out. THE GOOD SIDE: The staff is very sweet and attentive. If the food was as nice as they were, i'd be...
Read more$1 for a small carrot cake muffin; as of January 2019. It’s a great deal for such a yummy treat.
Covid19 update: Cudos to the staff for sticking with the job; face masks and all! Bakery took 1 week of summer vacation but reopened on August 17, 2020.
Cute little bakery that oozes nostalgia. The decor and interior design reflects it. We mainly come here for the carrot cake muffins. $1-1.50/piece; depending on size. The bakery also sells carrot cake as a loaf for $4.50. Its a great deal. The ladies behind the counter are friendly and make you feel welcome.
Thank you and cudos to the staff that work so tirelessly during the Covid19 pandemic.

Read moreThis bakery saved my butt from a certain disappointment. I had ordered a cake from Vons on Gaffey about 4 days ago. It was to be ready today and I got a pretty basic design. I was all excited bc it is for my hubby, and his SURPRISE bday party tomorrow! I recieved a call from Vons saying "we are really sorry but our cake decorator just got back from time off and your cake won't be ready until the25th! I just about cried. So I was with no cake for his party. I called Polly Ann Bakery to see if it was at all possible to get a last min half sheet, thinking I would be disappointed and still without a cake. They said it was no problem and they will have it ready for the party! What a relief and I will always get all of my baked goods here from this moment on....
