let's start with a good, this restaurant and getting two stars because the food was relatively tasty and the restroom was clean. Now for the bad, I took a look at the menu nothing looks super attractive. After deciding I want to show it take the server looks very confused while serving me the food. When I asked her for hot sauce, she gave me Srirachaa telling me at she thinks that it is spicy. Isnt the server supposed to know which sauce is hot sauce in which sauce is not?! In addition to my main dish I asked for some pickles that they had and the case she said she will give me some it took me about 15 minutes to remember that she forgot to give me some, and charge me for that without letting me know. About 30 minutes after finishing my food which was to oily(I've eaten in many Armenian restaurants before), my stomach started hurting and I got a little bit sick from the food. Must be very low quality meat. Aside my main dish I was charged $2.50 for three other things, seems weird to me that they are all priced the same. After all, I do not see any reason going back that place, especially because there are some magnificent Armenian restaurants...
Read moreCafe Areni Kebab House was completely empty at lunch time and had no food in their deli displays - that should’ve been my first clue. The cashier girl (who was the owner’s daughter) tried to overcharge me. Beef Kebab plate looked appetizing, but that was its only plus - the meat was as hard as the bottom of the shoe, hopelessly overcooked and lacked any taste (I have kebabs on a weekly basis and this was beyond bad). When I politely told them that unlike the Chicken kebab, which I also ordered, the Beef kebab was inedible, the entire family who owns that place and who were in the cafe - dad, mom and daughter - ganged up on me and became verbally abusive. It was a shocking experience, and, needless to say, I will never go back to the place with such poor customer service and less than mediocre food when there are so many other wonderful...
Read moreIf I could give 10 stars, I would. The Host was so nice, she made us feel at home. We ordered grilled chicken breast and beef lula for 4 of us. The Host suggested we get our order on plates to share and that was a great idea. My Portuguese parents in law never tried armenian food before, so we weren't sure how this is going to play out, but luckily they loved it. And I must agree, both the chicken and the beef lula were excellent! The pickled red cabbage salad as well as the tomato cucumber salad were fresh and very flavorful. I wish Areni restaurant had a location on East Coast; if we're ever in LA again, we will definitely come back! I'll say it again, the food was fantastic and the Host was so sweet, made our visit unforgettable. I should also mention this is a BYOB...
