Read some reviews about how good the food is here, so we had to try it out. The look of the building from the outside is enough to scare off even the most adventurous of those who are hungry. To call it a "hole in the wall" joint is definitely an understatement. No frills, very plain, undecorated place outside of a few mounted fish. The ladies behind the counter were super nice and very helpful. The food ended up being just OK. Everyone that came and went during our visit all appeared to be locals. This certainly isn't a place you're going to find on accident from out of town. The shrimp on my poboy came out of a frozen bag and were prebattered. I can get that at any fast food place, so was very disappointed. My wife's cheeseburger, while very thick and hearty, tasted more like processed soy meat. She compared it to a burger you'd buy at a street fair. A hamburger, shrimp poboy, eggrolls and 1 coke cost me $36. A bit much considering the less than average quality of the food. Passing through a small town where there are very few dining options, I can see how folks would rave over this place. Having eaten at plenty of other good places though, I can tell you the food here was just "OK".

Well here goes an honest review. I agree with one of the reviews that stated that there is an underlying feeling that you are not welcome here. There was no greeting. Just a look. Not even a friendly look. There was no one in the restaurant except us and one other table. I was then informed of how things go here. No service, wait on yourself, served on foam to go plates. We then walked into the dining area where there was a big coach roach on the ceiling. The salad was wilted ice berg lettuce with croutons. Nothing special about the salad! It could have been fresh though. It wasnt! The fried catfish was pretty good. But after we were treated in an unfriendly manner, I wont be back here. Honestly I dont know why there are so many positive reviews from this place. We weren’t impressed. A word to the owner, train your employees to treat people like you appreciate their business.

3/29/2018 - Added some pictures today from our to-go dinner order. We asked for extra crispy oysters, but got regular soggy ones. Food also seemed more oily than normal. That... and some menu price confusion gets a lowered rating. Previously... We've eaten here several times. It's a nice homey out-of-the-way seafood restaurant... but don't let that sway you. If you're in the area and hungry for some fried seafood... they don't disappoint. Sometimes we order three seafood platters for pickup and eat them at home with the kids, since we live nearby. Depending on your style you might be put off a little as you're walking in... but you'll be pleased as you're walking out! Don't forget to "like" my reviews!

Let me start by saying that I found the restaurant's name hilarious. With that said, I absolutely loved my experience at Cooter Browns Seafood. Upon entering, at first glance, it looked like any other small dining establishment, however, there was much more to this place. The staff greeted me and my friends as if we were family and showed us to a open booth. The seats seemed worn out from the feel of them but I guess that's what happens when it's been sat on so much over time, just says how often people have sat and enjoyed their food. Speaking of that, the food at Cooter Browns Seafood was outstanding. I ordered the Tuesday lunch special (Catfish Lafitte, Garlic Bread, and a choice between French Fries, Cole Slaw, or Potato Salad) with Potato Salad. I have to say that I savored every single bite. I considered asking to see the chef and thanking him for such an amazing meal. I plan on going again today and ordering today's lunch special and if it's as good (if not better) as yesterday's meal, I'm definitely shaking the chefs hand. I 100% recommend you try Cooter Browns Seafood if your driving...

We love Cooter Brown’s. Don’t let this little cinder block building’s appearance fool you. Inside, you’ll find some of the best food you’ve ever eaten. We’ve been regular patrons for over 12 years, both dining in and getting food to go, and have rarely been disappointed in the service or the food. This is a great mom & pop local establishment that is worth a visit. I guarantee you’ll be a repeat customer. The burgers are the best you’ll find anywhere. The seafood & steak is so delicious, and the crawfish etoufee is amazing. Onion rings, fried pickles, stuffed mushrooms are tasty appetizers, and the daily lunch specials will make you feel like you just ate at grandma’s house. The service is great. They treat you like family, and if there is anything wrong with your order, all you’ve got to do is let them know. They will make it right! Moral of the story: Don’t pass this place by if you’re hungry for awesome food and...
