Both my mother and I visit the Airline location at least three times each week...we have been patrons at that location since their opening. Each of us has been enjoying good coffee for more than 40 years so we are very experienced with what good coffee and bad coffee tastes like; we've brewed our own at home almost exclusively because making it at home has always been the best choice for the best coffee when looking for a particular range of boldness, strength, bitterness, etc.. However, with "French Press Coffeehouse", we are no longer limited to brewing at home because we can now enjoy a great cup of coffee and get out of the house for awhile.
Also, their frozen drinks are amazing and the sugar-free Mocha LaFreeze is OUTSTANDING! Really, if you want to save some calories or like me, simply prefer avoiding excessive sugar, you will find it difficult to notice that it is sugar-free (unlike the other place where the sugar-free flavor, well, tastes horribly sugar-free). If you don't believe me, go to Sta*cks and order a sugar-free mocha (frozen or iced) and then visit "French Press" and order the sugar-free...you'll NEVER go back to the other place and settle for second best again.
I can honestly say we've never had anything less than a 5-star visit ever.. The coffee is better than Sta*cks, the service is first rate (both quick and accurate), the dining area always clean, the baristas always very friendly, and the noise much, much, much LESS than the other popular coffee house; people can actually hear themselves think, listen to music, or carry on a conversation with others without straining to hear what the other people are saying. Anyone looking for a terrific cup of coffee and overall dining-in experience won't need to look any further than the "French Press Coffeehouse"...especially the Airline "French Press...
Read moreI have been a long time French Press customer, but this morning was the worst experience I think I have ever had here. I am aware this location (French Press on Airline Hwy.) is very busy around rush hour traffic, but the waiting that had to be done this morning (almost 40 minutes) was absurd given the rather normal line in front of me (maybe 6 cars). When I pulled up to the order window, I was told to "please hold, we will be with you in a minute" which turned into 10 minutes of me sitting there. I finally ordered (or so I thought...) and was told to please pull forward. When I made my way to the window, a barista tried to hand me an iced latte (my order was a medium creme brulee la freeze) so I politely told the individual that the drink in their hand was not my order. It turns out no one took my order, so it was not in the system at all. I had to re-give them my order, and after waiting another 10-15 minutes, I was handed (what I thought) was my drink and drove away. I did not think to try my drink immediately because I was already fed up with waiting in line for 40 minutes, and I figured it had to be correct because I just gave the worker my order only a few minutes ago. After almost getting to my job, I take a sip--I asked for no whipped cream (there was whipped cream) and I ordered a creme brulee la freeze--there was no flavoring in my drink and it tasted BITTER, almost to the point where I could not drink it. I have never been one to complain about bad experiences, but this was just ridiculous. I do not think I will be back to this location, which makes me sad because I used to go here almost daily, and I hadn't had any major...
Read moreI have been coming here practically every week (often twice a week) since February, and order the same thing: large iced latte with an extra shot of espresso and whipped cream. It comes with whipped cream spiraled on top with a dome-shaped lid covering it. The little man who served me today put a small plop of whipped cream in the drink with a flat lid. I asked where the whipped cream was, and he told me iced lattes don't come like that. I explained to him that every week l get a spiral of whipped cream with a dome-shaped lid. He repeated it doesn't come like that. I asked him why, then, have the other people who have served me always prepared it the way I asked? He said that that was a personal courtesy they were extending to me. I asked if I could get that "personal courtesy" extended to me today, and he told me NO! The other girl finally said, "just do it." He kept saying "that's not the way it comes" but begrudgingly started doing it. At that point I just asked for my money back and left the drink. His attitude was condescending and his tone was sarcasm unsuccessfully concealed with this sing-songy fake polite voice. When he handed me my money and said -- with that same fake sing-songy voice -- "You have a good rest of your day," I knew I would never again give this place my money. I think the server's name was Todd. This was Sunday 12/18 around 2:15 p.m. Do please tell him in a sarcastic sing-songy voice that he lost French Press a regular customer of nearly a year. No doubt...
