Amazing seafood! We were out of state asking our GPS. to find dinner somewhere nearby. We headed away from the lights of the highway into the middle of " no and where" Louisiana. The road was getting smaller and we could smell the fish scent of water, fish and fishing boats. Suddenly, there was a bright light and we had found Freier landing! Right on the waters edge of Lake Pontchartrain Louisiana! We walked up a long ramp with the coolest looking bits of driftwood on the corners of the ramp. It seemed almost like a Hollywood set for a Louisana lake Ponchartrain set. Who ever built this place put alot of time and effort into it. Wide walkways made the tables easy to walk around. We've all been in much fancier restaurants where the most commonly heard word is, " excuse me" as a fellow restaurant customer is forced past your seatback. No so at Freiners. Next, we noticed the early Moon rising over the lake. The windows were large and ran the full legenth of the restaurant. I want to mention the art on the walls? It featured different styles of homes from the Garden district. Someone with genuine talent is the Artist here. The menus were centered around lake and seafood with very good side dishes. Our party enjoyed both lake bass and many orders of the jumbo sized shrimp we had all noticed as we walked to our table. Their batter was light and the taste of well cooked Shrimp came over the taste of batter. It takes an experienced chef to correctly cook shrimp. You've got to have the frying oil perfectly hot and learn to have the lightest touch with a quality batter recipe. I ordered the spinich casserole side dish which was a mixture of spinich, onion, carrots and mushroom in a light cheese sauce. Someone in the Freiners kitchen is a true chef. We had seen enough orders of Creme brulee pass our table so, we all spilt orders of the heavenly desert and instantly regretted not getting our own orders of creme brulee! We had two children in our group who ordered the baked Creame Brulee pops on sticks. They were good sized so, each little girl ate one. Some of tried a slice of the other Creame Brulee pop, they were light, almost velvety Creame inside with a cake outside. Now, I'm looking for their recipe. We complemented our waitress with special thank you'd to the chef. As we were leaving, we couldn't help but notice two enormous lobsters so big they hung down over the edges of their oval shaped plates. Next time, oh yes there will be a next time. Our headlights flipped on as we headed back towards...
Read moreMy family and I have dined here before and thought the food was good and had a pleasant experience in the past. However, I called and made two separate reservations one for my son and his prom date and one for me my husband and The rest of our family. We arrived on time went to check in and could not find anyone to ask about our reservation when we did finally find someone to ask about our reservation. We were told that they had no record of our reservations. Keep in mind I had spoke with the lady three times this same day, the reservations were made a week in advance. The restaurant did have two large parties so I was very understanding and was happy that they could still seat us although It was a very tight squeeze for 6 of us in a booth, but we made it work. We ordered but as of an hour and 15 minutes later four of us had still not received our correct drinks. My husband also waited over an hour for his refill. We donât mind paying the prices when the food is good, but the food was mediocre at best this time around. We ordered a total of four appetizers. One of Them was wrong we ordered Grilled it came fried, no big deal. We also ordered fried green tomatoes. We were served sliced red tomatoes that had been fried and they were only three on the plate.. We had not even been given utensils to eat the food that was served. Our waitress was nowhere to be found are anyone for that matter. Our reservations were for 7 PM I thought this would give my son plenty of time to make it to his prom for 9 PM after the wait I finally went to someone after looking for 10 minutes. I finally found someone told her what was going on, she assured me she was going to try to make the situation better told her this was my sonâs first prom and he needed to be out by 9 PM. She did finally come to our table and check on our food, but the damage had already been done , my son still wasnât able to get out on time and was late for prom only to enjoy very little of his prom that night. I feel when you are paying over $200 for a meal service and food should be good. My husband and confirms me we will not be coming back to this place. This is the worst experience we have had. So disappointed and will not be making that mistake again. I understand that they were busy and had two big parties but donât wait on them and pass me up assuming youâre gonna get...
Read moreWould give zero stars but couldn't. My wife, daughter and myself went to this restaurant on my bday. Was told that it had good food. Took us 15 minutes to be seated and the restaurant was not crowded. We ordered the fried crawfish tails as an appetizer, a coke, a dr pepper and a water. The waiter came back with the drinks and I was told that they were out of coke. I then ordered a sweet tea. About 15 minutes later our appetizer came out, the crawfish tails were hot but tasted fishy. We then placed our entree orders, we ordered the seafood platter to split and my daughter ordered chicken fingers from the kids menu. About 30 minutes later, my daughter's order came out. I then asked for a refill of sweet tea, this time it tasted extremely watered down and looked like dirty water. About another 15 minutes later, our entree came out, it was super tiny for a seafood platter, it consisted of 6 fried shrimp, 3 pieces of fried catfish, About 2 handfuls of fries, 5 or 6 fried oysters and 4 hush puppies. Usually a seafood platter consist of the food that we received as well as a stuffed shrimp, stuffed crab, piece of bread, cup of gumbo, more fries and your choice of salad or coleslaw. We both said that we could have ordered our own seafood platter rather than shared due to it being so tiny. We then began eating and that's when everything went downhill. The food was cold, no seasoning, fish was soggy and very fishy tasting, shrimp were ok but cold and bland, hush puppies were ok, oysters were cold and bland. My daughters chicken tenders looked like it came from Long John Silvers. The food looked like it came from Golden Corral. We drove an hour on my bday to come eat here and were totally disappointed, not to mention we were here for a total of 2 hrs and the place was not busy. We will never ever come here again. I highly recommend not eating at this restaurant, definitely do not order the kids chicken tenders, fried crawfish tails or the seafood platter. I don't mind spending $70 on food that is seasoned, taste good and is hot but it sucks to spend that much and get very little food that is cold, bland and...
