Guillory's Deli and Tamales — Restaurant in Louisiana

I had an extremely unpleasant experience picking up an Uber Eats order from this establishment. From the moment I walked in, I felt completely unwelcome. The cashier didn’t acknowledge me at all—not a greeting, not even eye contact. It wasn’t until another employee noticed I was waiting that I finally received the order. And even then I was treated like I had to stand in the corner with a Dunce hat.

To make matters worse, after an honest mistake of parking in the wrong spot (unfamiliar with the area), an employee spoke to me in a condescending and unprofessional manner, as if I had committed a serious offense. I acknowledged the mistake and apologized directly to the person affected, yet this employee felt the need to lecture me instead of handling the situation with basic respect.

Between the poor customer service, unwelcoming atmosphere, and lack of professionalism, I would never recommend this place to anyone—whether as a customer or a delivery driver. To top it off, the establishment itself is run-down inside and out. The food smells and looks horrible I’m not sure why anyone would waste the money, time , or taste buds. Was advertised as open. Supposed to offer delivery service. A FAT lie! I pre-ordered one hour ahead of time. Two hours later, no food. Joint is closed today. Get your advertising straight!

Update: The food delivery service was at fault, not the restaurant. (My apologes. Please disregard my original comments). So I gave it another go. I really wanted to try those tamales and the Cuban sandwich. Both were outstanding! Worth the hassle from the the other night, and did not disappoint.

I prefer Delta style tamales, and that's how these were prepared. Not exactly the same, but very close. The meat in the Cuban sandwich was abundant, and I will likely make 2/1-2 meals from this one order by saving a nice portion of the sandwich to eat with fresh fruit as a snack. Though I must admit, it took every ounce of will power to stop once I started.

I highly recommend Guillory's Deli and Tamales in Metairie, LA. This is my new go-to place. I just don'e know why I didn't try it sooner. So don't miss out. Give...

I take full accountability for accidentally parking in what you claim was a private driveway—however, there were no signs, no cars, and with a packed street and full lot, it wasn’t obvious to someone unfamiliar with the area.

As for your claim that I ‘looked in someone’s food bag’—that’s completely false and an unfair assumption. I saw the food being handled, just as I saw you and others in the back without gloves or hairnets, which is a legitimate health concern.
