A Sweet Secret Read Time: 1-3mins
So first off let me start by saying YUMMMMMMY! Ok now that I’ve gotten that out. Whoof I’m more focused. Now let’s hop into it. This hidden heaven nestled away on a side street in Metairie, LA absolutely made my day.
As a snowball enthusiast and typical New Orleanian traveling on a humid day;I was looking for a refresher to quench my thirst and satisfy a sweet craving. What better than a snowball right? So I decided to consult one of my close friends to see if she could help me locate a spot nearby. ” Hey Siri, Where is the nearest snowball stand?” and up popped Lou Lou’s across my phone screen. I quickly got the “SatNav” set up, as my daughters like to affectionately call the navigation system and headed in Lou Lou’s direction.
I pulled my car up to an appeasingly painted blue and yellow building. I quickly hopped out beaming with the anticipation of a cool refreshing treat and spoiler alert in case you missed the beginning it was YUMMMMMMY! Now onto the juicy details. I chose my classic go to for a hot day. Lemon-lime and Watermelon. It was so delicious and had the perfect balance of syrup to ice ratio. The young lady behind the counter was prompt, friendly and an impressive snoballista( it’s not a word but I’m going to make it work lol) She made my snowball with love and perfection and I can’t wait to return again.
Oh yeah almost forgot. THERE’S 2 LOCATIONS! Sorry for yelling it’s just my expression of excitement for this awesome secret spot, that I just helped spell the beans on. Hope I don’t get into trouble for letting this secret out and I hope you don’t get into trouble enjoying this delicious...

However, I chose a basic flavor to be safe and it wasn't that great. It was super sweet and far from what it should've tasted like. The ice was soft, slushy and didn't stand a chance with the NOLA heat. By the time I got to my destination, less than five minutes down the street, it was already melting quite fast. My poor medium cup was not enjoyable.
Everyone have their own senses and preferences but this may not be it for me. Maybe I'll return one day to try their soft...
Read moreTrue New Orleans style snowball, made with love and lagniappe, heavy-handed pouring of quality syrups and garnishments (evaporated and condensed milk). The flavor selection is limitless and new flavors are always being added, also noteworthy is the impressive number of sugar-free choices available. Snowballing is an art form at this location, only the finest shaved ice is packed then punctured with a straw in a roundhouse stabbing motion that allows the syrup to saturate the entire cup of ice. The last bite is as flavorful as the first! Be sure to ask for a loyalty card, as Lauren truly appreciates her customers by rewarding ongoing patronage with free snowballs. The parking is adjacent and the location is on your way home no matter where you live...
