This restaurant is tucked at the very end of a small strip of buildings and isn't very noticeable from the road. The interior was clean, bright, and minimalistic in decor. There are multiple tvs with changing pictures. Spanish music was playing; a little too loudly in my opinion, but I couldn't help my shoulders following the beat the whole time I ate. I'm a big woman, and I initially thought the chairs were going to be uncomfortable, but they were actually quite comfortable. Our waitress was a lovely young woman named Arely. Neither my husband nor I are overly familiar with Cuban or Columbian food, but Arely was able to answer all of our questions about what the dishes were and the ingredients. I noticed she is also fluent in Spanish as she conversed with other customers in the language. We ordered a Columbian Chicken Empanada, Cuban Beef Empanada, the Cuban Sandwich, and the Steak Arepas. A cilantro lime sauce and a salsa looking dip called Aji were served also. I'll tell you now, the food was amazing. The empanadas were perfection and not the least bit greasy. The Cuban Sandwich was absolutely ridiculous and I may or may not have hurt myself trying to eat it all. I tried my husband's Arepas and I liked it. The bread was nicely grilled and the filling was yummy. The sauces were good, but I thought the aji sauce was easily the better of the two. I'd buy a jar of that stuff to bring home and eat it with everything. Our meal was $33.70 before the tip, which I felt was reasonable. We'll definitely return to this restaurant. Next time, I'm going to branch out and try something new, and...
Read moreMy husband and I came from South Alabama to Baton Rouge to take our dog to see the only cardiologist nearest us. While waiting for his tests we decided to come try out this restaurant since we are both from cuban descent and were raised in Miami. Firstly, the atmosphere was quaint and i loved the interior design of the restaurant. Secondly, I tell you that everything was outstanding. It was a relief to have a taste of home, especially when waiting to see if we'd get bad news or not pertaining to our dog. Our server was Danny and we got to talking to him and we found out he and his wife are also from Miami. He was extremely amicable and he explained how he normally cooks with his wife who owns the business with him. He explained everything was homemade and prepared fresh to order. Everything was truly delicious! We shared 4 appetizers, the loaded tostones, a chicken Columbian empanada, a beef cuban empanada, and ham croquettes. They were all delicious and the cilantro lime sauce was 100/10. We then shared the churrasco with congri and yuca fries. The steak was cooked to perfection, the congri was very yummy, and the yuca fries were the best I've ever eaten. We then shared the flan. THE FLAN. The smoothest most delicious, light and airy sweet custard. 1000/10 recommend the flan. We then had a colada to top it all off. Will definitely be making another trip just to eat here again. Side note, our dog is thankfully fine and will just need some medications to manage his...
Read moreHANDS DOWN SOME OF THE BEST BEANS I EVER ATE!! Alright first and foremost I know nothing about Cuban or Latin food. I walked past this place and got a whiff of something when the lady opened the door to leave with a DoorDash order and did a double take. I walked in and started getting nervous because I don't speak one bit of Spanish. The young lady at the front seen I clearly never been in there before and she described what was in the meals perfectly. I ended up sampling some of the NEW ITEMS they had on the chalk board up front that had the ingredients broken down and the menu was also in English so I didn't have to worry anyway.
So I ordered and the meals were very affordable I think $20 bucks may have been the highest item I got but the entrees and burgers came with 2 sides which where really good. The Congri was undefeated on the plate and whatever that House Special with all the meat, plantains, and the beans. I can't even lie to you, I felt like I was on a ready to book a flight IMMEDIATELY. They had a Passionfruit drink and please get it with WATER. I didn't listen and got one with water and one with Milk...That water in this Baton Rouge heat hit the spot.
I ended up going back the same day with my wife and she got stuffed off the appetizers. The Empanadas are perfect I had a Cuban Beef and a Regular Chicken on the return trip. The steak was cooked great and the Tres Leche Cake....GO THERE AND TRY IT..IT'S...
