I tried this gem for the first time this week. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The proprietor recommended the goat, which I've never tried. It was delicious! The side of bean/spinach soup had a wonderful flavor and paired well with the saffron rice. I also tried the egg encased in fried mashed potatoes. What's not to love about that? Throw in some shortbread cookies and you've got an amazing and unique meal! They even threw in a bottle of water and a banana. I will definitely be a repeat customer. There is nothing better than delicious food and good people. Check it out for yourselves and try something new. You won't be disappointed!

My son and I both had the Beef Suqaar, which is the same price as the chicken. For $16, you get a huge portion of food. We skipped the hot sauce, and it was mildly spicy. It was freshly cooked, and the ingredients were cooked perfectly. The Suqaar is cooked in a stir fry fashion, and consisted of beef, carrots, peas, corn, green bell pepper, onions, and greens served on a bed of rice. Great food, short wait times, and a slightly loud atmosphere, with the basketball game in the background. The clientele is unfailingly polite, and it's a little bit of an old style neighborhood diner atmosphere, except with excellent Somali food.

My wife and I ate here this morning based on other reviews and we were not disappointed. The man who greeted us was very friendly and told us about the food. I had the goat and she had the chicken plate with saffron rice. Both were delicious and the green sauce gave it a nice spicy addition. I also tried the chicken sambusi and it was very good and had a nice spicy flavor. I don’t get to Louisville often but will definitely visit Banaadir again and tell others about this great restaurant.

had an incredible dining experience at [banaadir cafe and grill ]! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish.

The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. I especially loved the [mention a standout dish], which was cooked to perfection. The menu had a great variety, with something for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten-free options.

The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, making it a perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes.

Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, great service, and a memorable night out. I’ll definitely be...
