🤔... I was trying really hard to like the food. After having the most delicious Vietnamese food in LA, I was expecting something proportional with this place, where different flavors will come to life in my mouth. Alas, not all Vietnamese food are created equal. I got an appetizer and soup. The appetizer was noodles, shrimp and beef wrapped with egg roll with sauce on the side. This is a cold dish. I am not a fan of cold food. Furthermore, it tasted bland. The sauce was not flavored enough to overcome the blandness. The soup also had noodles with squid, quail eggs, beef, shrimp, lemon grass, and scallion. This came with a side of bean sprouts. The soup looked like it wanted to taste good, aka it had potential, but I found it mild. Where are all those exotic flavors that I was looking for? They were nowhere in site. I feel that with a bit more spice, it would've been a-okay. My advice is to load up on the jalapenos. The two slices could not support that big bowl of soup. That being said, the food was reasonably priced. This is not a high end restaurant. There is nothing elegant about this place. I would more characterize it as a hole in the wall with lots of floor space. There was no music in the background that could add some vibes/ personality to the place. It was mostly quiet, except for when the group of older ladies at table was talking. I'd like to digress and say that Sigon Dish in LA is the best Vietnamese place, hands down. Albeit, I've only been to two Vietnamese...
Read moreLet me start by saying I am not a fan of Vietnamese food so my review is based strictly on my experience of service and the few items I ordered. I will, however, add comments from my wife and daughter that love Vietnamese food which is why we were there. So when we went in I ordered a jasmine tea and a Vietnamese sandwich. My wife ordered pho The tea came right away. However, when I asked for sugar or some type of sweetener, I was told that they don't have that. I thought bummer. But the tea was free so it was cool. Then my wife's pho came and my wife and daughter began to enjoy their meal. Then I began to think oh they must have not received my order. Then the server came by and said he was sorry for the delay. I began to think this sandwich is going to be great if there is a delay in making it. I was wrong it was a lot of good bread with a little sprinkling of meat and a few slices of cucumber and peppers. The sandwich tasted good, but not worth the price or the delay. My wife and daughter loved their pho. They left full and happy. I felt good because if they where happy all was well because they were why we were there in the...
Read moreThis place is a mix of Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. It has a good variety of both types of cuisine. I had the Phad Thai noodles, but they didn't actually use the traditional Phad Thai noodles. Instead they were like a fettuccine sort of noodle. My wife had the red curry. My daughter had the special pho. Taste was fair to good for each dish. The portions were smaller than we're used to, so we ate some snacks afterward. The Thai tea seemed pretty unauthentic like the powder in a package store bought sort of flavor. The appearance is very modest, so don't come expecting elaborate decorations. I gave this place 3 stars, because there was only one guy working out front. When we arrived there were 7 dirty tables with all the dishes and utensils and 9 dirty tables by the time we left. Despite all this, the food actually came out fairly quick after were we visited by the waiter, cashier, busboy, and probably partial cook, plate preparer and dish washer. The young man and likely one chef there were most likely just overwhelmed, so I'd be willing to give the spot...
