I was going to buy the office pizza for lunch on Friday 4-5-24. I got online and placed a carryout order for 11 am pickup at J Town location. I arrived at 10:54 am and doors were locked. I waited in my car and called @ 10:58 am to advise them I was there for a carryout order for 11 am. I was informed that they didn't open until 11 am and would open in a few minutes. (In my mind I was thinking it's only 2 minutes until 11 and my carryout order was placed for 11 am pick). I saw a person coming to open the door so I headed to the entrance. The person who came to the door looked as if she was agitated. I laid my hand on arm of the door as she was opening the door. With disgust on her face she said you gotta take your hand of the door. At this point I was pissed and was less than nice at this point. I was made to feel like crap twice in less than 5 minutes. I asked if the pizza was ready and was told it wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes. I advised I had an 11 am pick and not 11:10 am pick up and needed to get back to work. I asked to speak to the manager. She claimed she was the manager. The whole time I waited for pizza she criticized me being upset. I told her I would be getting in touch with the owner and then she offered to pay for the pizza. I told her I didn't want free pizza and that I was upset that a manager had treated me so poorly. I paid for the pizza and the cook brought out my pizza at 11:13 am.While he laid the pizza on the bar he said I hope your 10 minutes and someone treats you bad. Well that was it. I didn't trust eating the pizza, so asked for a refund and left without food. Very poor customer service and poor...
Read moreI'm giving another star, because the manager immediately reached out about my complaint. An engaged staff and responsive management counts for a lot. (Just cut back on the sausage filling so that other flavors can be tasted, and recognize an "antique" crust recipe might need updating to this century?)
My experience with this location goes back 25 yrs, when my daughters boyfriend delivered after school. They have good salads and sandwiches, I have ordered them often, over the years. BUT, I can't say the same for their pizza. Their crust is like cardboard. The only pizza there I enjoy, is the Mama's Bearnos pizza. It's the "everything" pizza. There's enough toppings so that you don't notice the crust. (Once I noticed that the menu offered an alternate crust. I tried it, THICKER AND TASTELESS. Worse.) This past weekend at a gathering the host served several pizzas from Bearnos. So I thought, "It's free, it's been 25 years, give them another chance." The Mama Bearnos wasn't ordered -but they got a Meat Lovers, so I figured the toppings would be packed on and the crust wouldn't be noticeable. True, I didn't really pay attention to the crust........because the toppings were about 70% those little sausage pellets, (I'm guessing that's the cheapest, most cost effective meat they could use?) Then finished off with a thin layer of assorted salami or ham, etc. IF WE HAD WANTED A SAUSAGE CASSEROLE, WE WOULD HAVE ORDERED ONE! I can only assume the customers that are satisfied with their pizza, have never had a chewy, crisp, yummy crust to compare it to? Meanwhile, I'm back to their salads and sandwiches, which I...
Read moreI worked here many many years ago. Not at this location but at one that is closed down.
Bearno's Pizza is a staple of the Louisville community and has been around as long as I've been alive and certainly longer than that. I also worked at a Bearno's in Jeffersonville Indiana when I was in high school. I had not had their pizza in a long time and we were near Bowman Field and there's a Bearno's across the street from the airport so that does help with the atmosphere.
Our 5-year-old son wanted a pepperoni pizza and we made a special request for them to cut it into 16 slices and they more than accommodated. We also ordered mozzarella cheese sticks which were delicious and the marinara sauce was so good that we took it home and ate it later on. As for the pizza we ordered the meat lovers large pizza and it was more than enough between me and my fiance to eat. The one thing that I would say is that due to the fact of the amount of meat in this pizza, the bottom crust was cooked to the point where it was crispier than it should have been but I understand why they did it. I certainly can't knock them for cooking food safely.
Bearno's is a must try if you are in Louisville and they have consistently been a favorite of the local community. Our waitress and the entire staff were very friendly and accommodating.
I will say this again: you get what you pay for. Bearno's, Impellizzeri's, Legacy Pizza in New Albany, and a few other places exhibit why this is true. Do not come here expecting to pay Domino's prices. I do feel that their prices are commensurate with both the economy their costs and also their need to produce a profit...
