So I was planning on heading down the street to Indi's. I had to pick up something from Ace Hardware. I decided to stop into Galan's Meat Market because I said no time like today. Wasn't doing much on a Sunday. I stopped in and was helped by Bradley who had excellent customer service skills. It was my first time there. I meant to get over to the restaurant up on 22nd and Market but right now I think you're closed down because of Covid. Anyway I got a half slab of the spare ribs and 2 kinds of potato salad. One potato salad had a Mediterranean feel to it and included sausage. The other I think he said was a German potato salad which included chicken. Both were completely unique and delicious. I'll take those to work with me this week. The tenderness and smokiness of the ribs got my mind right off of Indi's. I can't take a picture of the ribs because we already ate it!! Everything was fresh and not old and I appreciate that. I saw that you do bundle prices for meat as well . He told me that you have other offerings as well. He was very nice to tell me all about the store, explain the cuts of meat, menu board for sandwiches etc. I'm so glad that you have tried and true but as well are willing to expand and offer different salads etc. So often, if a store is in the hood, they stay very basic. I'm glad I stopped into this hidden treasure and I will be back. Thanks so much. You've got a great store that I will try to support...
Read moreWe (grandfather and I) needed something quick and easy to take out for lunch, so I ordered two sandwiches after spending about 5 minutes reading reviews since this is our first time trying this establishment.
The first sandwich was turkey. The turkey was wet and slimy as if it was sitting in water for a long period of time and caused the bread to be so soggy that you couldn’t hold the sandwich without it falling apart.
The second sandwich was the chicken salad. I think they mixed up our order and gave us smoked chicken instead because the sandwich had such an overwhelming amount of smoked flavor that you could smell it as soon as you unwrapped it. It tasted okay but not really the flavor we expected, and the bread was still a bit soggy. Toasting the bread would probably fix that.
We ordered the basic trio of toppings for both sandwiches, lettuce, tomato, and onion, for an additional cost, but the only toppings we received on both sandwiches were onions. It’s really not worth causing a fuss over a couple dollars, but we’re still disappointed. Not sure if we’ll give this place a second chance like we normally do since the entire order was poor overall. I hate giving up on local...
