Found the service here to be really bad. The menu was a bit different than your typical Mexican restaurant which was very exciting as I texted my friend that it appeared "authentic", but there were several things that would make me never come back and would deter others from enjoying their time there. After receiving the food, it was underwhelming, as well. We were starving and looking at the menu, so asked for some chips and salsa. The waitress said "sorry, I can't bring you any chips and salsa until you've ordered food, that's what the kitchen says". So... we were waiting for a friend and did not want to order before she arrived, so this delayed receiving the chips and salsa and exacerbated our hunger. That is an appetizer and I wanted to order it, but they would not allow me to do so! After we did order, the waitress brought them and it was half a container of salsa that we shared among three people. We asked for some more and was told it would be $1 for more. That was fine, be stingy on the salsa, but if your customer wants to order it, then let them! Second, I ordered food for my son off the child's menu and didn't want the soft drink so she said she would delete it, which I thought meant charge less for his meal. When I asked for a refill on my own soft drink, she said "okay, but I will have to charge you for it." So no free refills like most restaurants. I chose not to get another soft drink. Third, when we received the check, we literally could not read anything on it because the ink had run out on it and she had just hand-written the total. Not knowing how much we spent, we wanted to see the itemized list to make sure we were charged correctly. She just stated out loud what the charges were. The charge for the child's meal was exactly the same as the price on the menu, so apparently, she didn't take that off, but then she said she took MY soft drink off of it, which is maybe why no free refills? I have no idea. It was all completely confused. Then my friend's ticket was two dollars more than what she ordered and the waitress told her it was because she didn't spend $7 so she had to charge her $2 for the salsa. She wasn't that hungry so just bought some spinach dip for herself. Well... my friend explained that the salsa was for the whole table, we just separated parts of the check, but the waitress didn't get that. Ridiculous. I spend over $20 on my ticket, no reason to add more money onto the salsa because my friend didn't spend that much. Couldn't quit understand the concept that it was the whole table dining, not just one person. They are definitely in the wrong business if they want to try to nickle and dime their customers because they feel angry about Mexican restaurants in the area giving free chips and salsa and free drink refills.
As far as the food goes, my seafood dish was very much overcooked. The rice was dry, the beans were so-so and the salad had about a dime size dollop of sour cream on it. I asked for more sour cream and they brought me out about a quarter size dollop of it. The crab meat was fake, the tilapia was dry, and the crab legs themselves were overcooked and dry.
With all this being said, I would not return to...
Read moreWent to this place because of the reviews and I must admit. I was all in all.. WHOMP.. WHOMP.. WHOMP.. Let down. And I'm so sad to say this because I wanted to like this place so much. It all begin with my boyfriend/fiance/ "that couple over there is way too in love", looking for authentic tasting and exceptionally tasty Tacos to give us that outward glowing slightly greasy smiley faces & give up the goods to our taste buds after a not so hard half day of Door Dashing. So we found this place from Google searching and decided to venture... Not only was it close, it had incredible reviews from several different sites/places across the vast sea of world wide Weberia AND it fit our Door dash budget. I ordered Barbacoa tacos and the beau ordered the Compichanos taco platter. Wellllll..... First came out freshly made tortilla chips with a very flavorful and slightly spicy salsa for dipping. Fresh made warm lightly salted tasty chips. Freshly made salsa... We're off to a great start. Us, sitting on the same side of the booth sat in, hunkered down, scooted closer than necessary together and smiled as we munched And chatted about our dash day. The inward glow beginning to rev it's sweet little engines. If the speed in which we received our chips n sals was any indication of which we would be receiving our food, we knew it wasn't too long until we'd be blissed out rubbing our way too stuffed bellies. Soon our food came out. Plates steaming and heaped with our authentic Mexican delights. This is where it went down hill faster than a heavy headed toddler on a 12 ft wet playground slide. Not Barbacoa tacos, but flavorless chewy un shredded, shredded pulled beef. It was dry yet oily and definitely gave my jaw a pretty good workout. The amount I was given was quite substantial... I guess that would be a plus if the meat actually had any flavor. The rice, while again, a nice sized portion was dry, lacking in flavor and even color sitting there with it's heaped up side of mashed refried beans left me severely unimpressed and ready to grab a to go box. Let my description be a warning to you ... Both dishes ordered where over priced, not as advertised and to describe it in only one word. DISSAPOINTING. Maybe try.. At your own risk and be prepared for great fast service, a nice tune playing and food that is good for kiddos and an embarrassing teenage first date. Do I recommend? Forn7th grade assigned seating lunch during summer school? YES. But not much...
Read moreI’m all about authentic cuisine regardless if it’s Mexican food, Indian food, or Thai food. We got a recommendation for an authentic Mexican restaurant we had to try it out the same day. Victoria is located off of Hikes Lane. It’s inconspicuous, you would probably drive walk by and not even realize it. We enter to a colorful atmosphere literally since the decorations were bright and bouyant, a TV playing a channel in Spanish, and kind staff that met us as we entered. We were quickly seated at one of the tables Which could set up to six. There were a few other folks in the restaurant at the time who is primary language was Spanish as well. We took this as a good sign. We order some margaritas and found that they were delightful. They contained pineapple juice as a secret ingredient. They brought chips and salsa as you would expect. The salsa was so fresh and it was so tasty. We typically have to add hot sauce to the salsa at a Mexican restaurant but not at Victoria. We ordered nachos vegetarian and we got enchiladas. The nachos were delicious. The enchiladas were also delicious. The sauces and the queso on top of both dishes was incredible. Our service was quick and kind. Our server was very attentive. We really enjoyed our experience and can’t...
