Was excited to try this place since located in the trendy Arcona area.
The restaurant was clean but somewhat stark, perhaps because of the area located in. Not like a regular pizza place that usually has a more "homey" feel. The music was much too loud as we were the only customers eating in. There was some reply of the 2019 non-PGA golf event on the TV. The service was good and the cashier was nice.
As for the food, the Italian sub was very good. Fresh ingredients and though I am not a fan of pizza dough rolls, had a good taste and was baked correctly. Five stars for the sub. Unfortunately the pizza would probably only get two stars. While the crust was brown, it was not crisp especially when you consider that it was a reheated slice. The cheese was good but the sauce was somewhat overpowering (spices).
I would try another sub but not the pizza. Some items are decently priced, others somewhat pricey. $8.50 for an Italian sub is on the high side. Not sure how big the pepperoni rolls are, but for 6 in the order the price is $15. They also do not carry fountain sodas, another ding in the ratings. I know that there is a benefit to carrying canned sodas like not having to have an ice machine but our preference are fountain sodas. They just...

So first thing first: foods good. High quality, great chew to the dough, and the ingredients have a genuinely fantastic flavor.
The bad?: after placing an order for pick up we were told a 35 minute eta. Very reasonable. My wife arrived about 10 minutes early and was given the fries as soon as she walked in the door. This is immediately a red flag because fries deteriorate in quality very quickly in a Styrofoam clamshell due to steam. even if the pizza is exactly on time this means the fries will be sitting for at least 20 minutes. Not a great start but a minor issue.
That is until she finally gets the pizza 20 minutes later (15 minutes late) and now the fries are practically soup. The paisano is handed over and already has started to slide and the slices are large enough that pulling one away leads to everything falling right off.
The Nonna pizza is so tasty, but after a few minutes we notice the wax paper the pizza is resting on has sealed in the steam and the pizza in now basically wet on the bottom. Stupendous.
An edit: I also notice that the owner seems to only respond to 5 star reviews. I get that you might not want to engage with your detractors but how else would you change...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile on travel, I like or order pizza from a mom-and-pop pizzeria Generally, I take a chance with a pizzeria based on the amount, frequency, and date of the negative reviews. I read the negative reviews to determine whether the issues are with the food. I ignore reviews that emanate from disgruntled patrons seeking vengeance on a perceived slights; however, consistent contemporary complaints will get my attention. Enough about my process of picking a pizzeria and on to the review... First off the pizza was fantastic and I made the right choice in selecting Amore Pizza Arcona. If you're looking for mom-and-pop pizzeria, then this us the place for you. I would have given a 5-star review, but the toppings on the pizza were skimpy and not confined to 1/2 as instructed. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with half sausage and the other half meatball. No big deal, because the...
