We could not wait to try this place. I rarely see a 4.8 so we went in with high hopes. I saw previous negative reviews and I appreciated the owners feedback on each so I wanted to go into this with an open mind. Drove over an hour. We frequent NY and Philly trying to find good restaurants and we rate on four main things: vibe, food, drinks, service. It’s BYOB we had wine, that’s irrelevant. Vibe: bright lights, loud live music on a Saturday night. Not romantic or low key at all. That’s hit or miss so no loss in points there. We had a reservation and got stuck in traffic because there was an accident so we were late, but called and let them know. We had to wait for a table but we expected that because of arriving late, and appreciate they could still accommodate us. When they took us to our table they had just cleaned it and it was covered in water. When I say covered I mean cleaner was dripping off the table into my lap when I sat down. Our wine glasses were sliding across the table but we grabbed our own napkins and dried it off. Again, Saturday night, busy, benefit of the doubt was given but it was already off to a rocky start. Apps: Arancini and Baked Brie. The arancini was good and presented nicely. The baked brie was not to my liking because it was firmer than I anticipated. I like a melted brie but my husband thought it was perfect so this is personal preference. The food itself was absolutely terrible. The presentation wasn’t good, it was lacking in flavor, and it wasn’t prepared well. I had a pasta dish with blackened salmon. The salmon was oily and blackened the gray side that I normally remove. The pasta was covered in oil and lacked flavor from a traditional cacio de pepe. It was also way overcooked and very mushy. My husband ordered veal which was also tough and overdone with an overcooked pasta. We wanted a side of bolognese which couldn’t be accommodated. Again, no problem. Saturday night, we don’t expect special accommodations so we ordered the full portion. Overcooked, looked like cat food, presented horribly. The owner was very present in the restaurant and on the floor but he seemed to frequent tables with regulars and didn’t touch our table even after our server said she would ask him about the side of bolognese. We have both worked in restaurants as servers and bartenders and we try to give a lot of room for error and mistakes especially on a weekend dinner service. This was a horrible execution and a three star rating is generous based on the food quality. We won’t return, so keep your standards to a minimum and you...
Read moreWe had a delicious meal here last night. Tiffany our server was amazing, she provided excellent service. The ONLY downside to the night was the owner’s interaction with the table next to us. The couple next to us was paying their bill and provided a gift card. They were told that the gift card was for the other La Voglia location. The manager was called to the table and pretty much said that they couldn’t use the card because the two restaurant are independently owned. The couple expressed problems that they had experiences previously while using catering by the restaurant, they were upset. Finally, the owner said he’d cover the cost of the gift card and took the money off the bill. The gift card issue is ridiculous, the La Voglia website is for both locations. How can you simply tell someone that you won’t accept a gift card? La Voglia need to figure this out, they’re no way for the patron to know these rules. This can’t be the first time customers were denied using a gift card purchased at the other location. Afterwards, we discussed with the couple in the table next to us how poorly the owner handled it. The table next to them chimes in in agreement. At the end of our meal, after our neighboring table had left, the owner came to apologize to us for the situation. He went on to say how the women in the table next to us “was crazy” and the problem with the catering she experienced was her fault. This owner had the opportunity to be gracious and simply apologize, instead, he threw his customer under the bus. Bad business. The owner had plenty of opportunities to provide BASIC customer service, instead he...
Read moreThis is our second time at this place. First time was decent. Second time was not so good for the $$$. It is the inconsistency of our dishes. Don't order the meatballs appetizer. It was very dried and hard. For $15 three meatballs it is so dried we couldn't cut it from the top. You can hear how hard it is by tapping and scraping on it with the knife. As for Lamb shank, it wasn't as tasty or as tender like the first time we were here. Do not order lobster ravioli unless you don't care for lobster meat and just want to eat hollow ravioli with thick creamy sauce. It was very disappointing for our three dishes. Our waitress was okay she was busy and we know she is not the cook. Yes we should bring it to her attention but what we ordered it was already precooked so we will get the same batch of lamb shank, meatballs and lobster ravioli so what is the point. We probably not returning any time soon or again. We enjoyed good food and we dine out few times per week so we like to try different places and definitely return to the place that we know the food has good consistency and good service. Update 10/25/24 Ermir email me and apologize for our bad experience with our food and kindly offer us a refund for our meal and a gift card for us to give the restaurant another try so I thank him and pick up the gift card. I appreciate Ermir reaching out and generously refund us and give us a gift card so we definitely will give the restaurant another try. We will see if the food will be better like the first time we ate at this place. I gave one more Star ⭐ for Ermir...
