Lucedale Coffee House & Opossum Coffee Company — Restaurant in Lucedale

I hate to be this guy but I’ve tried this place several times as my wife loves this place and their coffee. But every time I’ve ordered my coffee or any drinks of my own, there is always an issue. Once I ordered a Chai Tea Latte and they gave me a dirty chai tea, which isn’t what I wanted because it adds a shot of espresso and leaves out the milk. Another time I ordered the Chai Tea Latte again hoping it would be better this time but they gave me a hot chai tea. When I returned to correct my order, they acted confused by my request as if they didn’t know what a chai tea latte was. Today I ordered a hot chocolate and it came out cold which I didn’t realize until i was back in my car driving away. It seems like every time I’ve ordered a drink from here, something has gone wrong. I’m not trying to complain and I always want to support a local business but I’m just annoyed by this being a reoccurring issue.(sidenote: my wife has had no issues with this coffee house. Coffee is very good and reasonably priced, and the service is friendly.

However, I'm not a huge fan of the decorum and atmosphere. I want a cafe to be cozy and warm. I can spend hours in cafes doing work and relaxing, and I can burn through many beverages in a week doing so, but I don't want to stay in this place. The overly patriotic atmosphere is intimidating and makes me not want to stay, which is a shame because I want to. I do like the $22 membership idea. It's a good passive way to bring troop awareness. But the flags and war memorabilia on every wall is too much for me.

I would love to become a regular here. I guess I was expecting a more traditional cafe with a more cozy atmosphere. If the owners are willing to tone it down a bit, I'd be more than happy to give this...

Great coffee, great people, and great atmosphere. They have just about anything you would want from a coffee shop. I have stopped and stayed for hours while working and I have ran in to grab and go and every time has been a good experience. They have a kid area with a play rug and a big chalk wall. There is also a free library (leave one take one). I keep it simple usually and have had an Americano and their regular medium roast both black and their mocha latte is great!
