Ok so I never do reviews but felt the need to maybe save a family from filing bankruptcy... The gondola ride to get to this place cost me, my husband and 2 small children $102.50 total. The ride up is MAYBE 5 min and the same down.ouch but the kids enjoyed it. I had seen on the website that the chalet had a normal food menu along with a kids meal. Nothing mentioned about menu being offered only during certain times of the year or anything. We got to the chalet and went inside and we were greeted with a cafeteria style "restaurant". Umm ok. So there was a small selection to pick from like hot dogs and hamburgers. We got 3 hamburgers, a hot dog, 1 cheese curd and 2 pops. The pops are small and refills are not free! WE PAID $90!!!! Ok granted we didn't even look above the food at the list of prices because how much can a hamburger or hot dog cost right? That's where we went wrong because it completely took us by surprise. The cheese curds were cold, old and hard. The burgers were ok-ish. Nothing special and the hot dog was very off tasting. The pop was good. That's about it. To top it off, construction was going on inside and outside of where you eat and it was cold outside so you didn't want to escape out there! All you could hear was hammers, a vacuum and a grinder or cut off wheel the entire time we ate. Dust was flying everywhere and all you could see was pants down to their butt cheeks and boxers hanging out... Awesome. Seriously they couldn't have waited until 3:30 when the place closed?? Save your money and go to Bk. was a great lunch after sitting in the semi for over 4...
Read moreNice place to grab a bite and take in the view when you take the gondola up to Caribou Mountain. The seating makes it feel empty in the summer (it is a ski resort after all), but it is a nice place with a huge deck overlooking Lake Superior from atop the mountain. The food is good, especially for what is in essence a concession stand/bar. The prices are a little high but the portion size matches, and the food quality is higher end than you might expect. I personally had the pulled pork poutine, which really was enough for 2 people (maybe three). My wife's veggie burger was more akin to a half pound restaurant style burger rather than those skinny pucks you find at grocery stores. Overall it is a nice place to grab lunch and a beautiful view when up north. (Then stop off at the North Shore Winery on your way back down...
Read moreWe are here for the 10th year for MEA. We came up for lunch like we always do and they were out of all their food. The “chefs” were rude and dismissive and unapologetic. It was 1pm on Thursday of MEA. How is this possible and why aren’t the staff trained to be more professional about it? The price of the Gondola is getting outrageous and if we can’t even get lunch during normal hours count us out for next time. So disappointing for a place minting money. The only bright spot was the cashier/bartender. He was trying very hard to accommodate people. UPDATE: I learned from the cashier that their food truck did not arrive as scheduled. Knowing this in advance, management should be informing people who are purchasing gondola tickets of the situation so they can decide whether to spend that amount of money with no...
